Chapter 55 Nothing at All
Laura doesn't know Matthew like this, does she?
No, he wouldn't act this way around Laura.
He must remember Laura's kindness and wouldn't do anything to betray her.
And Mary, well, she's nothing.
Matthew stared at the closed door, the knot in his chest growing thicker. He picked up a glass and took a big sip as if to ease his displeasure.
She wasn't like this before.
As long as they hadn't even divorced yet, he still wanted them to get along as they used to.
An hour later.
Mary's room door was knocked on.
She groggily got up to open it and saw Matthew, now in a suit, looking at her with a gentle expression. "It's time we leave for the dinner."
Mary's hair was loose, and her delicate features were elegant and soft. She seemed confused, her sharp edges softened, exuding a touch of warmth.
Mary was still the same as he remembered.
Unexplainably, Matthew's heart softened.
"I don't have a dress." Mary yawned as she spoke.
She was indeed tired, having rushed from Lindwood City to Emerald Isle City without a break. She had waited in the hotel lobby all afternoon, afraid of missing Matthew, not daring to close her eyes.
She had only napped for an hour, which wasn't enough.
Matthew said, "It's already been delivered."
Mary turned around and shut the door.
Furrowing his brows, Matthew called, "Mary?"
What was she up to now?
Soon, she reopened the door, a hint of moisture on her face, indicating she had just washed it.
Ignoring Matthew, she left the room, saw the black dress on the sofa, and returned with it.
The dress was quite modest, neither overly accentuating her figure nor so conservative as to feel suffocating.
It had a V-neck design, cinched at the waist to highlight Mary's slender figure.
However, the zipper was at the back, which she couldn't reach.
Mary tried several times but ultimately failed. She could only open the door, looking at Matthew with a blank expression. "Help me with the zipper."
With that, she turned around, pulling her hair over one shoulder.
Matthew stood up and walked towards her, his gaze falling on her back. She was very thin, with beautifully shaped shoulder blades. Last night, his kisses lingered there.
Matthew's fingers inadvertently touched Mary's delicate skin, the soft touch making his fingertips tremble.
His eyes darkened a bit.
However, the zipper was quickly pulled up.
Mary fixed her hair, applied light makeup, and said, "Okay, we can leave now."
She looked very elegant, without any jewelry, appearing as light and refreshing as a breeze.
Looking at Mary, Matthew furrowed his brows, then made a phone call and finally said to her, "One moment."
Mary nodded, sitting on the sofa with her phone.
Matthew kept his word; five million dollars had already been transferred.
Mary thought to herself, 'Hahaha, I am now a millionaire!'
Suddenly, Mary felt that delaying the divorce with Matthew wasn't such a bad idea. If he had any more demands, she would ask for another five million dollars.
About an hour later, there was a knock on the hotel room door.
Matthew opened it, and a bodyguard stood there, respectfully handing him a bag.
Matthew took out a jewelry box with a dazzling set of diamond jewelry inside.
