Chapter 166 Targeted
Mary shot her a cold look. "Messing with my stuff and acting all high and mighty? Where are your manners?"
Donna's face twisted. "How dare you insult me?"
"Say one more word, and it won't just be an insult," Mary warned.
Donna's face darkened, and she stormed off to find Alvin.
Alvin showed up quickly. When he saw the contents of the delivery box, his expression changed. He asked Mary, "Is this yours?"
Mary stayed calm. "What do you mean?"
"Why'd you bring something so gross to the office? Just because you're not working doesn't mean the rest of us can't," Alvin snapped.
Alvin usually wouldn't talk to Mary like this. She was in charge of the Henry Group project, and Matthew always had her back.
But today, Alvin got a direct order from Michael to remove Mary from the project team. He was shocked and tried to ask why, but Michael hung up on him. Alvin guessed Mary had fallen out of favor with Matthew, so his attitude shifted.
Mary frowned. "Someone sent me that package. I didn't know what was inside. But Donna opened it without permission. Why aren't you addressing that?"
Alvin hesitated, then turned to Donna. "Why'd you touch her stuff without asking? Didn't you find it disgusting?"
Donna smirked. "Yeah, I won't touch her things again."
Alvin glared at Mary. "Get rid of that. If this happens again, don't bother coming back."
Mary clenched her fists. She could tell Alvin was targeting her.
When Mary looked at the delivery box, her face turned pale. She grabbed a bag, covered the box, and threw it in the trash.
Back at her desk, her hands and feet were still cold. Was the person who sent this the same one who texted her before and who wanted to harm her?
Before she could think more, someone dumped a pile of documents on her desk. "Process these."
Mary frowned. "These aren't my tasks."
The person sneered. "Got other work? You're part of this office, so these tasks are for all of us. What makes you special?"
Mary had no comeback, and she didn't have much work at the time.
She took a deep breath and started on the documents. One person started it, and soon, all the miscellaneous tasks landed on her desk. As the pile of documents and parcels grew, Mary's face turned cold. She had been kicked off the project team, Alvin's attitude had changed, and now everyone was targeting her.
She thought it was all Matthew's doing. Was he trying to wear her down because she wouldn't agree to the divorce?
Mary's heart sank. She couldn't understand why Matthew didn't believe her, why he thought she was poisoning him.
As the workday ended, she finally finished everything. Walking out of the company, she saw Michael standing nearby.
