Chapter 639 Watched Over Her for Three Days
Mary smiled and asked, "Mr. Cooper, you aren't from Lindwood City?"
Joey looked at her in surprise, "How did you know?"
Mary said, "His accent doesn't quite match."
Joey responded, "I'm from Diamond Ridge, here on business."
He stared at Mary's face and suddenly said, "Just to clarify, I'm not hitting on you, Ms. Smith. Every time I see you, I feel an inexplicable sense of familiarity."
Mary chuckled, "Do I feel like your long-lost sister or something?"
Joey paused and actually started to think seriously.
Mary said, "Mr. Cooper, if you have things to do, go ahead. I'm fine now that I'm awake."
Joey couldn't come up with an answer, because his long-lost sister had already been found.
"Alright, if you need anything, just give me a call." Joey nodded, stood up, and left.
The room returned to silence.
Mary closed her eyes. Her whole body ached, making it impossible for her to calm down.
While she was lost in thought, the door to the room opened again.
Mary thought Shirley had returned and said, "Why are you back so soon?"
But there was no response for a long time.
She opened her eyes in confusion and immediately saw Matthew standing by the bed. Her brows furrowed instantly.
She closed her eyes again, preferring not to see him.
Matthew scrutinized her carefully, not missing the coldness in her eyes. He pulled up a chair and sat down without speaking for a long time.
The atmosphere in the room was somewhat tense.
For the past three days, Matthew didn't know how he had managed.
When he learned that Mary had been in a car accident and was in a coma, he was stunned and rushed to the hospital, where Mary was still in emergency care.
He stayed by her side for three days, talking to her every day, urging her to wake up.
Today, he had to return to the company, and she woke up.
He couldn't help but wonder if she did it on purpose.
But looking at her pale and thin face, he couldn't say a word.
He had watched the surveillance video of the accident.
At that time, she had walked onto the road in a daze, and a car couldn't avoid her and hit her.
Therefore, she was partly responsible for the accident.
Was not getting a divorce so shocking and unacceptable to her?
Matthew wanted to ask but found he couldn't.
Because the answer would inevitably disappoint him.
When Shirley returned, she saw Matthew sitting like a statue by the bed, motionless.
She pursed her lips. He had been like this for the past few days, and she couldn't get rid of him no matter how hard she tried.
She had even been kicked out by him twice.
Shirley thought, 'This person is truly insufferable.'
"Mary, it's time to eat." Shirley walked over, set down the food she had bought, and then adjusted the bed.
Mary opened her eyes and said, "Smells good."
Shirley laughed, "It's all your favorites; of course it smells good."
After setting up the small table and arranging the food, Shirley was about to feed Mary.
But Matthew suddenly reached out and grabbed the utensils.
"What are you doing?" Shirley immediately asked.
Matthew coldly said, "Get out."
Shirley was furious, "Do you have any sense? Mary doesn't want to see you. Why are you here? Are you shameless?"
Shirley cursed harshly, but Matthew remained unmoved and said indifferently, "Either leave now, or I'll have someone throw you out. Your choice."
