Chapter 154 Did Mary Poison?
The ambulance got there fast, and Mary rode with Matthew to the hospital.
Not far from Maple Grove Manor, a girl in a black baseball cap and mask watched the ambulance leave and then made a call. "Madam, he's been poisoned."
At the hospital, they wheeled Matthew into the ER.
Tests confirmed it—he was poisoned, and the toxins were spreading fast.
How could Matthew be poisoned?
Mary was stunned. Her mind was a mess, her face pale, and her hands and feet trembled.
She saw the nurse about to enter the ER and rushed over. "Can it be detoxified?"
The nurse said, "I don't have the details. Doctors are on it." Then she pushed past Mary and went into the ER.
The red light above the ER flickered as Mary stared blankly, not knowing what to do.
Pinching her arm, the pain snapped her back to reality. Mary called the cops without a second thought. "I need to report a poisoning..."
Then she returned home with the police to get the food for testing.
Matthew got poisoned after eating that food, but why was she fine as she had the same meat and soup?
Mary handled things calmly, watching the police take the food and then rushed to the hospital.
When she got back to the ER, Sam and Herman were already there.
Shirley was supporting Herman, looking lost.
"Mary." Shirley's eyes lit up when she saw her.
Herman, with a white bandage around his head, glared at Mary. "Where were you?"
Sam also gave her a cold look.
Mary said, "Matthew's been poisoned. I believe the food was tainted, so I called the police. They had taken it for testing."
Sam and Herman exchanged a surprised glance.
Most people would be panicking, but Mary stayed pretty calm.
Herman looked at Sam. "You should also check what he touched that day for anything unusual."
Sam nodded. "Okay."
Matthew's sudden poisoning caught everyone off guard. Meanwhile, the Montagu family got the news.
Half an hour later, Richard and Linda arrived, but Matthew was still in the ER.
"Uncle Richard, Aunt Linda." Herman greeted them politely.
Richard glanced at him. "Herman, when did you get back?"
"A few days ago," Herman replied.
Richard said, "Now that you're back, your father can relax."
Herman smiled but said nothing.
Linda looked anxious and turned to Mary. "How could Matthew be poisoned?"
Mary shared her thoughts.
Linda was shocked and turned to Richard. "Mary cooked the food. She's Matthew's wife. She wouldn't do that, would she?"
Richard's dark eyes bore into Mary like he wanted to tear her apart.
Mary's face turned cold. "I didn't do it!"
Linda said, "Let's not jump to conclusions. Right now, Matthew's safety is what matters."
The tension at the ER entrance was thick.
