Chapter 387 Robbed

Mary scarfed down a few bites of food and then made a beeline for Shirley's place.

As soon as she got upstairs, she saw Shirley's door wide open with two cops standing there.

Shirley was chatting with the police about something.

"Shirley," Mary called out as she walked over.

Shirley looked up and immediately asked, "Mary, when you were living here, did anyone come in? Were you hurt?"

The two officers turned their attention to her.

Mary shook her head. "Nope, no one came in while I was here."

Shirley sighed, "Then it must've happened after you moved out."

Mary nodded. "Yeah, probably last night. I came back the day before yesterday to pack up my stuff."

The cops checked the surveillance footage around the house but didn't find anything fishy.

In the end, they had to leave it unresolved.

Shirley pulled Mary inside. "This is really freaking me out. I think I need to move."

Mary said, "I rented a place before, but I'm not staying there now. You can crash there."

Shirley looked puzzled. "Why'd you rent a place?"

Mary explained the whole situation to her.

After listening, Shirley touched her chin, her pretty face deep in thought.

She then summarized, "So, you're saying someone sent Mark photos of his son being abused but didn't actually send his son to jail?"

"Yeah, it's been bugging me, but I can't figure out why," Mary nodded.

Shirley said, "That's weird. If they didn't plan to release Mark's son, why send those photos?"

Mary shrugged. "Let's not overthink it. It's in the past. Mark made his choice, and it's not really my place to say anything."

Shirley sighed.

Then she asked, "What's going on with you?"

Mary dodged the question and asked, "Where are you hurt? Are you better now?"

Shirley nodded. "I'm fine now. Got any plans today? If not, let's grab some food. I haven't had breakfast yet!"

"Sure, let's go eat," Mary agreed.

They quickly tidied up and headed out.

When they saw the mall, Shirley dragged Mary inside. She'd been cooped up in the hospital for so long, she was dying to shop!

Being with Mary, Shirley felt over the moon.

They walked into a clothing store, and Shirley immediately spotted a dress. She picked it up and held it against Mary. "Mary, you'd look awesome in this. Try it on."

Mary looked at it and nodded, reaching out to take it.

But suddenly, a hand snatched the dress away. "Chloe, try this on. You'll look stunning."

Shirley's face turned sour. She stepped forward and said, "Hey, why'd you snatch it from me?"

A woman lounged on the couch, decked out in a hat, mask, and shades, while the girl who nabbed the dress, sporting a hat herself, gazed at the woman with a fawning expression.Hearing Shirley's words, the girl immediately glared at her. "This dress is super expensive. Can you even afford it?"
