Chapter 811 How Nervous Are You About Him

Mary was taken aback and asked, confused, "Why is this trending? Why is he getting so much hate?"

Shirley replied, "It's too complicated to explain over the phone. Just check it out yourself."

Mary frowned deeply. What was going on?

They hadn't seen each other for just one night, and now this?

Without ending the call, she exited the call screen and opened the app. The top trending topic was about Matthew.

She clicked on it, and when she saw the video content, Mary sat up abruptly.

"See that? That jerk finally got what he deserved, being trashed all over the internet. It's so satisfying!" Shirley's voice came through, her laughter almost maniacal.

The video only showed the part where Matthew kicked a middle-aged woman. It didn't include the events before or after, nor did it show Mary, so no one knew that Matthew had acted to protect her.

Mary pursed her lips and scrolled through the comments.

[Did he really kick that hard? The woman was knocked to the ground!]

[His eyes are terrifying. Is he really the CEO of the Montagu Group? I don't want to touch anything from the Montagu Group anymore!]

[Apologize! Just because you have power and money doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. No matter how rich you are, you still have to face the law!]

[Apologize!]

[Bullying the weak and elderly, why don't you just die?]

There were even more vicious curses below, but Mary didn't continue reading.

Her emotions were a mess. She closed her eyes and said, "Shirley, he hit her to protect me."

Shirley's strange and excited laughter abruptly stopped. "What? What happened that I don't know about?"

Mary then recounted what had happened at the hospital the previous day.

Shirley was stunned for a moment, then hesitantly said, "So I blamed the wrong person? He actually did something decent? That's rare!"

Mary said, "I'll call him to find out what's going on."

"Okay, go ahead." Shirley didn't delay her any longer.

Mary dialed Matthew's number, but it was constantly busy. She couldn't get through.

Mary went to the studio. Maria wasn't there, and Sean noticed her troubled expression. After hesitating for a moment, he asked, "Is it because of the trending topic?"

Mary looked at him in surprise. "You know about it, too?"

Sean replied, "It's not just me. Anyone who checks their phone knows about it. The buzz isn't dying down; someone must be fueling it."

After a pause, he added, "But hitting someone without reason is still wrong."

Thinking about Matthew's cold attitude towards Mary, he asked with concern, "He hasn't hit you, has he?"

Mary felt uncomfortable and explained, "He only acted to protect me. He hasn't hit me."

Seeing her instinctively defend Matthew, Sean was silent for a moment before saying, "Mary, you might not realize it, but you're really worried about him."

Mary was stunned.

Yeah. She really was worried about Matthew.

Ever since she heard the news, she had been distracted.

Especially sitting at her computer, she had lost count of how many times she had zoned out, unable to focus on a single word.
