Chapter 403 Stealing His Cigarette

In the car, Matthew glanced at Mary and, noticing she was still in a funk, asked bluntly, "What? I didn't catch her, and you're still pissed?"

Mary looked up at him. "Don't you think Shirley has a point?"

Matthew's lips twisted into a mocking grin. "In your eyes, everything she says is gospel, huh?"

Mary stayed quiet for a bit and he wasn't wrong. Shirley had always had her back from the start.

Matthew pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and with half-closed, sharp eyes, said, "Forget about divorce. Sam's got your back in the shadows, and I'll get you a few bodyguards out in the open."

Mary sighed, "Isn't that a lot of hassle and money?"

Matthew shot her a look. "I got cash."

Mary chuckled softly, but the smoke was getting to her. She reached over, snatched his cigarette, rolled down the window, and tossed it out.

Matthew stared at her, surprised, as she took his cigarette for the first time. His eyes were dark, filled with a heated intensity.

Mary suddenly regretted it.

She said, "They've already gone far; we should catch up."

Matthew gave her a long look before turning away, then started the car and followed.

Not far off, at another villa with high walls, the vibe was cold and serious.

Bodyguards at the gate nodded respectfully at Matthew.

Herman was already there, leaning against his car, messing with his phone. Seeing them pull up late, he raised an eyebrow. "What took you so long?"

Matthew shot him a cold look.

Herman shut up, then muttered under his breath.

Shirley, feeling chilly, had stayed in the car.

Seeing Mary now, she got out, looking her over. "Matthew didn't give you a hard time, did he?"

Mary shook her head. "Nope."

Shirley sighed in relief, "Good."

The villa's main door was open, and Matthew walked in first. Michael was already waiting inside.

"Mr. Montagu, we looked into those guys. Their bank accounts got a foreign transfer a few days ago, each over two million dollars." He handed the info to Matthew.

Someone had definitely paid them off, with three people totaling around six million bucks.

Whoever was behind this shelled out big to target him.

Mary asked, "Did you find out who paid them?"

Michael said, "We're still digging, but the foreign accounts are virtual. Once the transaction's done, the accounts vanish, making it tough."

Shirley, not holding back, sneered, "And you call yourself an assistant?"

Michael stayed silent, thinking, 'Shirley, did I do something to piss you off?'

Seeing through Michael's thoughts, Shirley lifted her chin and said, "I don't like him. You're his assistant, so I naturally don't like you. Quit now, and I'll apologize right away."

Michael stayed silent again.

Those guys were locked in the basement.

Mary and Shirley walked behind. When they got to the bottom, they heard weak wails.

Shirley eagerly walked over to look. The door opened, and the scene inside was pretty gruesome.

The three were hanging separately on the wall, covered in blood.
