Chapter 828 Don't Hold Back
As Mary opened the door, she said, "I still don't know. I called him, but he didn't pick up. One thing's for sure, though—someone's got it out for us."
Shirley followed her inside, frowning. "Isn't it aimed at him? What's it got to do with you?"
Mary pursed her lips slightly. "I have a gut feeling it's not that simple."
Shirley looked worried. "Mary, don't freak me out. Why does this sound more and more complicated?"
Mary sighed. "We still don't know what they want, so we just have to take it one step at a time. But I'll be fine."
At least, for now, all the moves were aimed at Matthew.
Shirley pulled out her phone. "I'll ask Herman to help figure out what's going on."
Mary shook her head. "He's friends with Matthew. You think he wouldn't get involved?"
"True."
Shirley put down her phone. "I feel so powerless. I can't help at all."
Mary smiled. "We just need to focus on our own stuff. Not interfering is the best help we can give them."
When there was a fire in the front, the rear needed to stay stable.
Otherwise, being attacked from both sides was unbearable for anyone.
"You're right."
Mary asked, "Have you eaten?"
Shirley shook her head. "I came straight over when I saw the news. I even fought with my boss over this. That jerk, all he does is hold meetings every day about the most trivial, annoying things. It's driving me nuts."
Listening to her rant, Mary felt inexplicably relaxed. "Bosses all have that problem. Just hang in there."
Shirley slumped on the couch. "I guess that's all I can do."
Mary went to the kitchen and quickly cooked some noodles. Before long, she called Shirley to the dining room for dinner.
After eating, the two of them sat with their phones, keeping an eye on the situation.
The handling of this incident was the same as the last time.
The Montagu Group didn't immediately issue a clarification, maintaining a wait-and-see attitude.
The funny thing was, in the morning, netizens were apologizing because of the clarification video, but by the afternoon, they were back to swarming and cursing.
They didn't even wait until the next day to change their tune.
Shirley put down her phone. "I'm done watching. They're all nuts."
Mary was still watching.
Seeing her expressionless face, Shirley asked, "Mary, what are you planning to do next?"
Mary looked up at her. "I think I'll do a live stream to clear things up."
Shirley's eyes widened in shock, and she quickly tried to dissuade her. "No way! If you do a live stream now, you'll attract all the heat. You can't do that. Matthew at least has the Montagu Group and a professional PR team. We have nothing. If they target you, they'll easily find and go after you."
She was so worried that Mary might actually start a live stream that she grabbed her hand. "Didn't you just say we should focus on our own stuff and not add to their chaos?"
Mary was amused by her nervousness and put down her phone. "I was just talking. Why are you so tense?"
Shirley remained serious. "Is this something to joke about? You had the thought and were planning to act on it. I'm telling you, no way, absolutely not!"
