Chapter 747 Then Why Can't Even a Kiss Be Allowed?
Matthew leaned in close to Mary, their faces just inches apart. He looked at her cold expression and smirked. "Mary, are you seriously gonna act like you don't know me after everything we've been through?"
Mary frowned. "When did I act like I didn't know you?"
Matthew replied, "Then why can't I even get a kiss?"
Mary was speechless.
She pushed Matthew away and stood up. "Matthew, what we have is strictly business. I don't want to complicate things. It won't do either of us any good."
Matthew looked at her overly calm expression and chuckled. "But I think it does me a lot of good."
Mary asked, "Are you going to do what I asked or not?"
Why was Matthew so annoying?
"I'll do it."
Matthew walked up to her, speaking softly to soothe her. "Since you asked, of course I'll do it. And I'll make sure it's done perfectly."
Satisfied with his answer, Mary turned and left.
With Matthew's help, she didn't need to send Barbara away. She planned to head back to Lindwood City today.
"You're leaving already? In such a hurry? Why not stay a few more days?" David tried to persuade her when he heard she was leaving.
Mary shook her head. "I came here suddenly. I still have work in Lindwood City. I can't stay too long."
David was reluctant but said, "Alright then. When are you leaving?"
"Tomorrow," Mary replied.
David said, "Perfect. I'll go buy some groceries, and we can have dinner together tonight. The kids love it when you're here."
Mary nodded. "Okay."
She planned to visit Mark during this time.
Matthew leisurely walked out of her room and saw them talking. "What are you guys chatting about?"
David was taken aback. "You two..."
Matthew walked over to Mary and put his arm around her shoulders. "What about us?"
David was at a loss for words.
Mary stepped forward, slipping out of Matthew's embrace, and headed for the door.
Matthew followed her closely.
Once outside, seeing him still following, Mary said, "I have things to do. Stop following me."
Matthew replied, "I won't get in your way."
He intended to stick with her.
Mary frowned. "Don't you have your work? You're the CEO of the Montagu Group. Shouldn't you be busy?"
Matthew smirked, his handsome face looking even more mischievous. "Do you think such a big company relies solely on me? Why do you think I pay all those people?"
Mary was speechless.
Fine, a flawless reason.
She had no comeback.
Realizing she couldn't shake him off, Mary stopped wasting time and got into her car.
Matthew took the passenger seat.
He claimed he wasn't busy, but on the road, he held several conference calls, his voice low and his tone cold as he issued one command after another, making professional decisions.
Mary glanced at him when she had a moment. Catching her gaze, he looked over and winked.
Mary shivered involuntarily.
Finding a parking spot, Mary parked the car and headed to a breakfast diner.
Matthew naturally sat across from her, unfazed by the modest surroundings.
Mary ordered two sandwiches and a bowl of corn porridge. Matthew followed suit.
