Chapter 153 Vomiting Blood

Mary's face went ice-cold. "If that's the case, don't go around getting people pregnant. At least wait until we're divorced."

She spun the shopping cart around and walked off.

Matthew watched her go, his smile fading.

Mary reached the vegetable section, grabbed some greens, tossed them in the cart, and headed for the snack aisle.

As she turned a corner, another cart crashed into hers, sending groceries flying everywhere.

"Sorry!" The girl who'd crashed into her was all apologies, quickly picking up the scattered items.

Mary knelt to help, saying calmly, "It's crowded. Be careful."

"I will. Sorry again," the girl said.

They quickly restocked their carts, and just then, Matthew caught up. Seeing him, the girl hurried off.

"What happened?" Matthew asked, frowning.

"Nothing. Do you need anything else? Shall we go?"

"I'm done," Matthew said.

At the checkout, Matthew pulled out his wallet and paid cash while Mary just watched, not even trying to pay.

If he wanted to eat, he could pay for the groceries.

Back at Maple Grove Manor, Mary headed straight to the kitchen to start cooking.

Matthew followed, but she snapped, "Get lost. Don't get in my way."

Matthew frowned. "I used to help you."

Without turning, Mary replied, "You used to do a lot for me. What do you do now?"

Upon hearing this, Matthew's lips tightened, and he left, while Mary blinked, pushing down the bitterness.

Why did Matthew always bring up the past?

Could they ever go back? No!

Calming down, Mary washed, chopped, and cooked with practiced ease.

Forty minutes later, dinner was served. Mary took off her apron. "Let's eat."

Matthew walked over, his stern face softening slightly at the sight of the food.

They ate in silence, the tension thick. Mary took a few bites, drank some soup, and then just watched Matthew as if she begged him to finish and leave quickly.

Matthew, oblivious, ate slowly.

Just as Mary's patience was about to snap, Matthew set down his utensils.

He wiped his mouth, about to speak, but then his brow furrowed, and blood trickled from his mouth!

Mary's eyes widened. "What's wrong with you?"

Matthew's gaze turned icy. "You..." He tried to speak, but his vision darkened, and he collapsed!

Mary was horrified!

She was terrified by Matthew's condition and the look in his eyes as if he wanted to kill her!

Mary didn't think twice before she called 911, making sure Matthew lay flat as she didn't dare move him!
