Chapter 84 Can you recognize two-faced?
The room was dimly lit, and Mary leaned in slightly to get a closer look. She immediately saw Matthew sitting on the sofa, leaning back slightly, with Laura sitting beside him, wiping his forehead with a tissue.
They appeared very intimate.
Mary squinted her eyes and saw Laura stand up, grab something, and then seemingly lose her balance. She stumbled a couple of times before falling directly onto Matthew's lap.
"Do you want to film it?"
Suddenly, a teasing voice sounded in Mary's ear.
Mary turned abruptly to see Robert, who had somehow mimicked her posture, leaning in and squinting to see inside.
He was taller than her, but with this lean, their heights seemed almost equal. When she turned her head, she nearly bumped into his face!
Startled, Mary quickly pushed him away, "No, it's not necessary."
Robert slowly straightened up, watching her flustered and startled expression, and chuckled, "Without a video, how could you hold evidence?"
By now, Mary had calmed down. She opened the door of the room and walked in with a smile.
Inside the room, there were only Matthew and Laura.
The moment Laura fell into his arms, he pushed her away.
"Be careful." He said in a deep voice.
Just as Laura regained her balance, the door was open.
Mary walked in holding her phone, "Hey, why did you stop?"
Upon seeing her, Matthew's gaze turned intense, sweeping over Robert, who followed behind her. His whole demeanor became cold and restrained.
Seeing Mary holding her phone, Laura immediately walked over and said, "Ms. Smith, what are you doing?"
Mary blinked, "Naturally, I'm recording evidence of Matthew's infidelity. When we divorce, I'll be entitled to a large sum of property!"
Laura's face darkened as she reached out to grab the phone, but Mary dodged.
With a flash in her eyes, Laura stumbled and fell!
"Laura!" Matthew exclaimed, rushing to help her up, "Are you okay?"
Laura's face had turned a bit pale, "My leg, it hurts..."
Matthew helped her to sit on the sofa, then turned to Mary, his gaze now colder.
Mary hadn't expected things to turn out like this. She immediately said, "Luckily, I recorded a video. I didn't touch her, and she fell on her own!"
At this moment, Laura softly said, "It was indeed my carelessness. Matthew, I didn't want her to leave anything bad about you, so I hurried to grab her phone. I'm sorry, it's all my fault."
As her words fell, Matthew's expression became even darker and more unpleasant.
Robert coolly remarked, "So bitchy."
Mary turned to him, "Can you tell?"
Robert replied, "A little."
Mary nodded, "You must be quite skilled. So, in a situation like this, what should I do?"
Rubbing his chin, Robert said, "In such matters, nothing you do matters. It depends on whom certain people lean towards. If they are on your side, even if you did push her, it wouldn't matter. But if they are not on your side, even if you didn't push her, and even if you have a video as evidence, they will still blame you for avoiding her."
Mary gave him a thumbs up, "You're good!"
While Mary's face was smiling inside, a bitterness had already taken root.
Would Matthew take her side?
The answer was definitely no.
He had already used Mary as a shield for Laura. How could he possibly stand up for her?
