Chapter 756 Jealousy

Clio blinked her big eyes and walked right up to South, staring at him intently.

South felt a bit uncomfortable under her gaze. He cleared his throat and crouched down to ask, "Hey, what's up?"

Clio flashed him a bright smile. "You're awesome! You put out the fire!"

The sudden compliment caught South off guard.

He felt a bit embarrassed. "Really?"

"Yeah!" The other kids nodded in agreement.

"You all are awesome! You put out the fire! You're heroes!"

The kids' sincere eyes were fixed on South, making him swell with pride.

He looked over at North and grinned smugly. "See that? They said I'm a hero."

North was speechless.

Childish!

He kept a straight face.

Clio walked up to him, tugged on his sleeve, and said in a soft voice, "You're amazing too! You weren't afraid of the fire. Are you a superhero?"

"Yeah, are you a superhero? Only superheroes aren't afraid of fire!"

"Even Ultraman isn't afraid of fire!"

North's mouth twitched. Catching South's look, he suddenly said, "Yeah, I'm a superhero."

South was speechless, too.

When Mary returned, she saw South and North playing with the kids.

She was a bit surprised. David remarked, "Looks like they like these two."

David walked over and said, "You all can find rooms to rest in. Take a break for a few days; consider it a holiday."

The kids dispersed.

David called someone to come and clean up the house. A third of it had been destroyed by the fire and needed renovation.

Mary felt a chill and hugged her arms, looking at South and North. "Thank you both. You should go rest now."

South smiled and shook his head. "Mrs. Montagu, we're not tired. Mr. Montagu instructed us not to leave your side until he returns."

Hearing this, Mary paused and asked, "Where did he go?"

South shook his head. "We don't know."

Matthew had left the night before and hadn't returned.

It must have been something urgent.

Mary didn't think much of it and went to the still-intact rooms to help the kids settle in.

Four rooms were unaffected, so Mary arranged for the kids to rest there.

She then went to the classroom.

Sitting in a chair, Mary felt dizzy and unwell.

Just then, a warm coat was draped over her shoulders.

Mary looked up, meeting David's concerned face.

"You don't look well. Are you feeling sick?"

Mary said, "A little. I might have caught a cold."

David suggested, "Let those two take you to the city. If it gets worse, you'll be the one suffering."

Mary thought for a moment and agreed.

She stood up, intending to return the coat, but as she did, she felt dizzy and started to fall.

David quickly caught her, asking with concern, "Are you okay?"

At that moment, Matthew walked in and saw the scene.

From his perspective, it looked like Mary was falling into David's arms, with David gently comforting her. They seemed very close.

And she was even wearing another man's coat!
