Chapter 721 I Just Like Him, I Want to Be with Him
Joey's expression got serious. "Rebecca, I can go along with a lot of things, but not this. You're a Cooper, you can't just go around wrecking other people's marriages."
"What do you mean, wrecking? I've investigated. They're getting a divorce. Besides, didn't you send a lawyer to help?" Rebecca pouted. "Joey, you've come this far, why won't you help me?"
Joey was surprised by how much Rebecca knew. He frowned. "Rebecca, can't you find someone else to like? Why does it have to be Matthew? If you've looked into him, you should know he's not someone you can count on."
Joey tried to reason with Rebecca, saying, "Mary once saved his life, but he still wants a divorce and has put her through so much. If he can treat his savior like that, do you think he'll treat you any better?"
Rebecca didn't care. "He treats Mary that way because she has nothing. He wouldn't dare treat me like that because I have the Cooper family behind me. He'd think twice before messing with me."
Joey's frown deepened. "Rebecca, are you really this stubborn?"
Rebecca let go of his arm. "I like him, and I want to be with him. If you won't help me, I'll find a way myself!"
With a huff, Rebecca pushed Joey aside and stormed off.
"Rebecca!"
Joey watched her go, feeling a mix of worry and helplessness.
Rebecca's temper was something they had indulged, and now it was getting out of hand.
Rebecca wanted to see Matthew but was told she needed an appointment to go up to the CEO's office.
She was stopped and left the Montagu Group in a huff. Sitting in her car, she received a file on Mary from her assistant.
After reading it, an unreadable emotion flickered in her eyes.
She called her assistant. "Buy a house and make sure Mary is the one who designs it."
Later that evening,
Mary walked out of the building and saw a Rolls-Royce Phantom parked by the curb. The sleek, luxurious car had its door open, and Matthew was walking towards her.
Mary frowned slightly. "What are you doing here?"
Matthew replied, "I'm here to pick you up from work."
Mary was cold. "I don't need you to."
She started to walk past him, car keys in hand.
Matthew followed her. "Then you can give me a ride home. We live in the same neighborhood, after all."
He was determined to stick with her.
Mary frowned, looking at him with irritation.
"Matthew, this persistent behavior won't change anything."
Matthew said, "How do you know it won't? Maybe you'll get used to it and miss me if you don't see me for a day."
Mary retorted, "It's daytime, stop dreaming."
She opened her car door and got in, locking it before Matthew could join her.
Matthew tugged at the door, but it didn't budge. He knew Mary didn't want him in.
His handsome face showed no emotion as he turned back to his car.
Mary's small car led the way, with Matthew's luxury car following behind. The two cars entered Maple Grove Manor one after the other.
