Chapter 330 Don't Think About the Impossible
She was totally wiped out.
Matthew's face was stone-cold. He didn't buy her story, especially seeing Laura stroll out of his room all chill.
He shot straight, "If it wasn't you, why didn't you freak out seeing Laura?"
Mary's long lashes fluttered. "I was shocked, I went crazy, then what? Matthew, I wanted out. I thought if you two hooked up, we could split easy. But no, you went nuts. Wasn't Laura enough for you?"
Her eyes got all red talking about it!
Clearly, Matthew had already hooked up with Laura, so why was he still messing with her?
She felt grossed out!
Matthew's face got darker. "We didn't hook up!"
Mary's breath caught.
Matthew looked away, his throat dry. "Nothing happened. I was just pissed you let another woman near me. Of course, I had to show you."
Mary looked at his sharp profile and thought it was nuts!
She was the one getting screwed over!
Thinking this, Mary started to cry. She bit her lip, trying to hold it in, but she couldn't and just broke down!
Matthew's heart clenched, feeling all sour and messed up. He stepped forward. "Mary."
"Get out!" Mary glared at him with tear-filled eyes, her voice rough.
Matthew felt stiff. Everything was cleared up, it was his screw-up, and he treated her like that.
She had every right to be pissed.
He was the one who messed up.
He didn't leave; instead, he stepped closer and said, "Mary, if you need to let it out, just hit me."
Mary actually did hit him.
But she was already weak and sick, so her hits were soft.
Matthew held her hand. "I'm sorry."
With her emotions out, Mary didn't feel as bad. She pulled her hand back and said in a muffled voice, "Matthew, I want a divorce."
She didn't want anything to do with him anymore.
She didn't want to live this humiliating life.
Hearing this, the apology on Matthew's face vanished. His eyes darkened as he stared at her, about to say something when the door to the ward was knocked.
Michael walked in with a food box, sensed the tension, and left after putting it down.
Matthew's lips pressed into a line. He set up the small table, opened the food box, and laid out the food.
He looked at her and said, "You should eat something first."
Mary didn't look at him.
Matthew said, "If you don't eat, I'll make you. You don't want that, right?"
Mary glared at him fiercely, but in the end, she got up, grabbed the utensils, and started eating.
She was really hungry. She finished a bowl of porridge and some side dishes.
After eating, she felt a lot better.
Matthew watched her the whole time. Seeing her put down the utensils, he said, "I'll make Laura apologize to you."
Mary paused and said, "I want a divorce."
Matthew seemed to be holding back his temper, his tone colder. "Mary, stop thinking about impossible things and focus on getting better, okay?"
Mary's hand clenched into a fist, looking at him with hatred. "If you don't trust me, why won't you agree to a divorce?"
