Chapter 705 Looking for Biological Parents?

"Really?!" Shirley's curiosity was piqued. "So, what is it?"

"It's a secret for now. I'll tell you once it's done," Mary replied with a mysterious smile.

"You're even keeping it from me," Shirley huffed, turning away.

Mary continued humming a tune as she cooked.

When the delicious food was finally on the table, Shirley eagerly came back.

Just then, Mary's phone rang. She glanced at the screen and saw it was David calling.

"David," Mary answered, her voice tinged with a smile.

David's warm voice came through, "Mary, how have you been lately?"

Mary chuckled, "Pretty good. How about you? Is the orphanage running smoothly?"

David responded, "It's going okay. Not as tough as I imagined, but it's not easy either. I'm in Lindwood City right now. I'll be heading back tomorrow. Are you free to meet up for dinner?"

Mary was surprised but said, "If you're up for it, come over to my place and I'll cook for you."

David agreed, "Sounds great."

Mary gave him her address and then headed back to the kitchen to prepare a couple more dishes.

"Who was that?" Shirley asked, puzzled.

"An old friend from the orphanage, David. He's in Lindwood City," Mary explained.

Shirley nodded, "I'll get some fruit ready."

The two of them busied themselves.

Half an hour later, the doorbell rang.

Mary went to open the door and greeted David with a smile.

"Welcome, come on in."

David was taken aback. He hadn't expected Mary to live in such a fancy neighborhood. Seeing her luxurious home, he was even more astonished.

"This place is amazing!" he exclaimed.

Owning such a large house in this area, Mary's life seemed pretty great.

David couldn't help but laugh, "I can't believe I asked if you were doing well. I feel a bit silly now."

Mary sighed, "Everyone has their troubles, no matter how they live."

"True," David agreed.

He placed the items he brought to the side and said, "I came to Lindwood City to buy some supplies. Lindenville is developing, but the economic conditions are still lacking. I want to give the kids a better life."

Mary nodded, "That's the right idea. Growing up in a good environment will help the kids get adopted more easily."

David nodded and then said, "By the way, I've developed an app to help missing persons find their families. It has information from parents looking for their lost children and vice versa. I've registered my information to find my biological parents. Have you thought about doing the same?"

Mary's expression froze for a moment.

David smiled, "Think about it. If you decide to look for them, let me know, and I'll help you register."

"Okay," Mary nodded.

Back in Lindenville, Barbara had once hinted at information about Mary's biological parents. Unfortunately, it was too little, and before Mary could ask more, Barbara was taken away.

Thinking of this, Mary asked, "Has Barbara ever come back?"

David shook his head, "No, it's like she just disappeared without a trace. But you'll never guess who did come back."

Mary looked at him, puzzled, "Who?"
