Chapter 345 Whether You Take a Vacation or Not, It's Up to Me

Maria's voice on the other end of the line was all laid-back. "Mr. Montagu, I'm on vacation."

Matthew's tone was ice-cold. "Whether you get a vacation or not is my call."

Maria went silent.

Mary clutched her phone, feeling all kinds of uneasy, but she had no clue where Shirley was, so she just sighed, feeling kinda helpless.

Right then, her phone buzzed. She picked it up, a bit taken aback.

It was the buyer of her house.

"Hello, Ms. Diaz."

Maria's cheerful voice came through. "Ms. Smith, sorry to call out of the blue, but I feel like we really clicked. Got some time? Wanna grab a coffee?"

Mary was even more surprised.

She and Maria were just strangers who'd done one deal. Why was Maria suddenly asking her out for coffee?

Mary said, "Ms. Diaz, just spill it. What do you need?"

Maria sighed, "I wanna open a studio and need a spot, but I'm not from Lindwood City and don't know the area well. Could you help me check out some places?"

She paused and added, "Don't worry, I won't let you come for nothing. I'll treat you to a meal!"

Mary felt relieved; so that was it.

"Okay, but I'm not a local in Lindwood City either, so I might not be much help." Mary felt she should be upfront with Maria.

Maria said, "Just come over and take a look first."

Mary agreed, and they set a meeting place before hanging up.

She wasn't worried Maria would do anything shady.

Because she knew Sam was still secretly tailing her.

Otherwise, how could Matthew be so clear about her whereabouts?

Mary quickly tidied up and headed out.

Fifteen minutes later, she arrived at the bottom of an office building and spotted Maria from a distance.

Maria was stunning, with curly hair cascading over her shoulders, looking all casual, like a high-bred cat.

"Ms. Diaz," Mary walked over and greeted her with a smile.

Maria handed her a milk carton. "Better drink milk. Coffee's too bitter, not tasty."

Mary took it. "Thanks."

Maria said, "Let's go in and take a look first. There are two spots in this building the agent said are pretty good, but I don't have a feel for them. You can help me check them out."

Mary said, "I might not be great at this either. By the way, what kind of studio are you planning to open?"

Maria said, "An architectural design studio."

Mary's eyes flickered at the words.

She was an architectural designer herself.

Maria seemed to remember something and looked at her. "I saw your profile. You seem to be an architectural designer? Where are you working now?"

Mary said, "I'm not working anymore."

Maria's eyes immediately lit up, "Then would you like to join my studio? I promise the salary and benefits will be better than your last job. The working hours are flexible, and I won't mess with your ideas. Think about it?"

Mary didn't expect her to extend an invite so quickly. She smiled slightly and politely declined, "Thanks, but I'm not looking to work right now. I might leave this city."

Maria was taken aback, her eyes flickering, "Leave Lindwood City? Where are you planning to go?"

Mary lowered her eyes slightly, "Let's check out the place first."

"Okay."

Maria got the hint that Mary didn't want to continue the conversation.

It was Maria's fault; she was a bit too eager and had asked directly. If she were asked such questions by a stranger, she'd be cautious too.

When they got out of the elevator, they saw many studios with people busy inside.

Maria walked to a door, pushed it open, and said, "This is the place."
