Chapter 783 Have You Finished Speaking?

Right now, the most crucial piece of the puzzle lies with this girl. She might be the only one who knew who was behind all this.

But without direct evidence, they couldn't do anything to her.

The banquet hall manager was trembling, sweat pouring down his forehead.

"Mr. Williams, Mr. Montagu, I swear I don't know anything! This is such an important event, how could I possibly be bold enough to let something like this happen?"

Shirley sneered, "Yet it did happen. Do you not find your words laughable?"

The manager nodded repeatedly, "It's my fault, I'm incompetent. I'm willing to face the consequences, but I truly don't know what happened. I'm innocent!"

Shirley crossed her arms, glancing at the girl and then at the manager. "You both claim it has nothing to do with you, so how did it happen? Did it just appear out of thin air?"

The girl looked at Robert and said, "Maybe Mrs. Montagu and Mr. Williams have something going on. Last night was crowded, perfect for cover. After all, being locked in a guest room for so long, who knows what could happen?"

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Shirley stepped forward and slapped the girl across the face. "Did you see it with your own eyes? Did you witness the whole thing? Or did you know what was going to happen, which is why you dared to say it?"

The girl, her face now grim, retorted, "Do I need to see it with my own eyes? Robert and Mary know each other, and their relationship is ambiguous; many people know about it!"

Shirley, furious, raised her hand to slap again, but Mary stopped her.

"Mary, don't stop me. Let me ruin her face!"

Mary said, "Even if you kill her, it won't solve anything."

Shirley, still fuming, stepped back, no longer adding to the chaos.

Mary walked up to the girl, her eyes filled with anger, and said calmly, "I don't know who you're working for, but it seems you're targeting me. If that's the case, why not confront me directly? Playing these underhanded games makes me think you're just rats in the gutter. No matter how glamorous you appear, you're still low and despicable at heart."

"You!"

The girl's face twisted with anger, wanting to curse but hesitated, glancing warily at Robert and Matthew.

The room's atmosphere grew tense.

"Are you all done?"

Matthew's deep, magnetic voice broke the silence.

Mary looked at him, "Do you have something to say?"

Matthew smiled, "Of course."

His gaze fell on the girl's face, and he spoke calmly, "Your family runs a food company, but competition has been fierce in recent years. Your family's business chain has been shrinking, and in the past six months, you've been struggling financially, on the brink of collapse. Your father had a stroke and is hospitalized, your mother lacks business acumen, and your brother is in prison for assault."

He chuckled, "And someone offered you money to revive your family's company, promised to hire the world's best doctors for your father, and the best lawyers for your brother. With such tempting conditions, you couldn't help but be swayed. Once you accepted, you couldn't easily betray them, because your family's lives are in their hands."
