Chapter 668 He Slept with Joan, and You Don't Mind?
Mary jumped, startled, and turned to Matthew standing a short distance away, holding a steaming cup of coffee.
She frowned slightly. "Were you listening in on me?"
Matthew walked over and sat in the chair next to her, also looking outside. His side profile was sharp and handsome, with his bangs falling slightly over his forehead, giving him a youthful appearance.
For a moment, Mary was taken back to when she first met him.
"Did Linda ask you to poison me?" Matthew asked calmly, still looking outside.
Mary was shocked. "How did you know?"
Matthew smirked. "Because she didn't just ask you. She asked others around me to do the same. What do they call this? A multi-pronged approach?"
Mary's expression froze, her emotions becoming complicated.
Matthew turned to her. "Why are you looking at me like that? Still upset about me overhearing your conversation?"
He chuckled. "Besides, I wasn't eavesdropping. I just happened to pass by and heard it."
Mary looked away and said, "I told you, I can't do something like that. If you die, I'll go to jail. I don't want to go to jail."
Matthew laughed softly. "Such a coward?"
Mary remained silent.
But Matthew continued, "If you're such a coward, how did you have the guts to divorce me?"
He gazed at her clean, makeup-free face, her delicate features soft and gentle.
"Is it because Robert has your back?"
He pulled out his phone and showed her a photo. "Will you still have a good impression of him after seeing this?"
Mary frowned. "What are you talking about? Robert and I are just friends!"
Despite her words, her eyes fell on his phone.
It was a photograph of a bed, with Robert and Joan lying side by side.
The photo was clearly taken by Joan, lying shyly next to a sleeping Robert.
Mary quickly looked away.
Matthew observed her expression. "Does it hurt?"
Mary pressed her lips together, saying nothing.
Matthew's tone grew colder, though it was clear he was trying to control his emotions.
"Did I ever tell you? He's the illegitimate son of the Williams family. His mother was killed by his father's wife. He's been biding his time, and later got involved with Joan, who fell head over heels for him. For him, Joan would do anything. With the Bailey family's help, his father soon noticed him and brought him into the Williams Group."
Matthew spoke indifferently, taking a sip of his coffee and glancing at Mary. "And this photo was taken the day he went to the hospital to see you."
Mary immediately recalled that day. Robert had promised Shirley he would stay with her at the hospital, but he left after receiving a phone call.
She hadn't thought much of it at the time.
So this was the truth.
"Matthew, you've told me all this, but none of my business."
She looked at him calmly. "Whatever Robert did, that's his choice. From what I've seen, he's always helped me and never hurt me."
Matthew's eyes grew colder, and he seemed to want to say something, but finally, he said, "Even if he slept with Joan, you don't care?"
A strange emotion flickered in Mary's eyes. "Why should I care?"
What did it have to do with her?
