Chapter 740 If You Struggle Again, I'll Kiss You

"No worries," Mary said, "We can reschedule the hearing when I get back."

David looked at her with a complicated expression. There wasn't much else they could do at this point.

"I need to go for a walk."

Mary continued, "Do you need anything? I can pick it up for you."

David shook his head with a smile, "Nah, just come back soon."

"Alright."

Mary nodded.

Leaving the orphanage, she drove straight towards downtown.

By the time she arrived, night had fallen. She parked her car by the roadside and started walking along the bustling streets.

It was dinner time, and the streets were filled with people shopping and eating out.

The air was filled with the aroma of food, and Mary looked around.

It had been a few months since she last visited, and Lindenville had changed quite a bit.

There was construction and development everywhere. It wouldn't be long before this place became as prosperous as Lindwood City.

Just then, Mary's phone rang. She took it out and saw it was a call from the hospital caregiver.

"Mary." Nora's voice came through, "Why didn't you come today?"

Mary replied, "Something came up, so I couldn't make it. How are you feeling today?"

Nora sounded relieved, "I'm feeling good."

"That's great. If you need anything, just let Katya know," Mary reminded her.

Katya was the caregiver looking after Nora.

Nora responded, "Okay, I will. When are you coming back?"

Mary glanced at the sky and said, "I'm not sure about the exact time, but I'll get back as soon as I can."

"Alright, I'll let you go then. I don't want to bother you," Nora replied softly.

Mary could sense that Nora was very dependent on her, almost as if she was afraid of being abandoned.

Was this the damage caused by her original family?

Nora's parents were irresponsible, but what about her own parents?

The girl who took her place, was she loved and cherished?

Barbara had said her biological parents were wealthy, so she probably didn't lack for anything materially.

As Mary thought about this, her expression grew colder.

She had parents once, but someone had stolen them from her.

In the past, Mary didn't dwell on this because she didn't know the truth.

Now that she knew, she was determined to find out what happened!

As Mary was deep in thought, someone suddenly appeared in front of her.

She looked up to see Matthew's handsome, mischievous face.

Mary's brows furrowed immediately. She tried to walk around him, saying, "I must be sleep-deprived, seeing things."

But then, her wrist was suddenly grabbed, and she felt the warmth of his touch.

"It's not a hallucination. I'm here to see you."

Matthew's deep, pleasant voice sounded in her ear.

Mary closed her eyes for a moment and said, "Why are you here?"

Matthew replied, "To ask why you didn't show up. Are you having second thoughts about the divorce? If so, just withdraw the case. It would save us the hassle of going back and forth to court."

Mary looked at him, "You're overthinking it."

Matthew's expression softened, and there was even a hint of a smile in his eyes. He held onto her wrist, not letting go, "Really? But the fact is, you didn't show up."

Mary said, "Let go."

"No."

Instead of just holding her wrist, Matthew intertwined his fingers with hers.

Mary struggled harder, "Let go of me."

Matthew said, "If you keep struggling, I'll kiss you."
