Chapter 422 Will You Cry?
Mary's face froze for a sec. She looked at him quietly and said, "If I say no, will you cry?"
Matthew burst out laughing, the fog in his eyes clearing up. After a moment, he leaned in, grabbed the back of Mary's neck, and kissed her hard.
His cool, fiery breath took over hers. Caught off guard, Mary struggled a bit, but he soon let her go.
Their noses touched as his breathing got heavy and deep.
"Mary, I'm not divorcing you," he said in a low voice.
Mary's eyelashes fluttered as she said, "Aren't you scared your dad will take back all your rights?"
Matthew chuckled, this time with a bit more sarcasm. "If he could, he wouldn't just be talking about it."
Mary got it but felt a chill in her heart.
It seemed his power wasn't just the DK Group, and from his attitude, he didn't even take the Montagu family and the Montagu Group seriously.
So, their divorce wasn't happening anytime soon?
Seeing her lost in thought, Matthew stepped back a bit, pinched her chin, and looked at her deeply. "What are you thinking about?"
Mary said, "I'm thinking about what Laura is thinking."
Matthew asked, "Why care about her?"
Mary lightly pressed her lips together and asked, "Matthew, why did your attitude towards Laura suddenly change?"
Matthew stared at her deeply, just about to say something when his phone rang. He took a look and saw it was a call from Linda.
"Hello?" Matthew answered, his tone icy.
Linda's gentle voice came through, "Matthew, come back and see Laura; she wants to see you."
Matthew's tone grew even colder. "She wants to see me, so I should just go? Who does she think she is?"
Linda was taken aback, not expecting his hostility to be so strong.
She sighed and said, "Laura said she wants to give you Samuel's things. She said this time it's for real."
Matthew was silent for a moment, then spoke even colder, "Fine, if she's lying, she'll pay a heavy price."
Mary stood next to him, overhearing the conversation and feeling a twinge of fear at the coldness in his eyes.
When Matthew was ruthless, no one could match him. Even Laura, who had once broken a leg to save him, he turned against without hesitation. Mary found him increasingly hard to understand.
Matthew ended the call and looked at her. "What if I told you that the broken leg two years ago was a setup she orchestrated?"
Mary's eyes widened. "A setup?"
"Hard to believe, right?" Matthew's face showed a hint of sarcasm. "I couldn't believe someone would go to such lengths."
"So, what was her goal?" Mary asked.
"Who knows," Matthew replied. He opened the car door. "Want to come watch the show with me?"
Mary shook her head. "No, your family is terrifying."
Matthew chuckled. "Alright, you go home. I'll find you later."
Without waiting for a response, he closed the car door and walked towards the hospital.
As the car started, Mary watched his tall figure, her emotions all over the place.
