Chapter 568 Approaching Your Goal

"What are you doing here?" Robert asked with a frown.

Matthew, as if he had heard a joke, had a cold glint in his eyes. "What about you? Why are you here?"

Robert's androgynous and handsome face showed even less of a smile. "I'm Mary's friend. It's normal for me to come to see her."

"Well, I'm her husband. It's normal for me to be here too," Matthew said flatly.

Robert frowned. "Didn't you two get divorced?"

Matthew replied, "Who says divorced people can't sleep together?"

Robert's expression darkened. He stepped forward and grabbed Matthew by the collar. "Matthew, you've already divorced her. Can you stop bothering her? She's much happier without you!"

"Is that so?" Matthew didn't care about Robert's current state. Instead, he looked at Mary. "Mary, is what he said true?"

Mary trembled all over, then walked over and said to Robert, "Robert, why are you here so early? Is there something you need?"

Seeing her pale face, Robert immediately let go of Matthew's collar and asked with concern, "Mary, are you feeling unwell?"

Mary shook her head. "I'm fine."

Robert frowned. "But you look pale."

Mary opened her mouth, wanting to say something more, but Matthew put his arm around her shoulders and said softly, "Answer my question."

Mary's eyelashes fluttered as she said, "I'm the same as usual."

Matthew seemed a bit displeased but didn't press the issue. Instead, he looked at Robert. "Watching us being affectionate so early in the morning, don't you feel a bit out of place?"

Robert furrowed. He felt there was a hidden meaning in Matthew's words, but he couldn't figure it out at the moment.

Suppressing his emotions, Robert looked at Matthew and said, "Mary is an independent person. She knows what she wants to do. You shouldn't confine her like this. Doing so makes her no different from a puppet."

Matthew still held Mary, as if he hadn't heard Robert's words, and asked softly, "Are you used to driving that car? Do you want to change it?"

Mary replied, "I'm used to it."

Matthew said, "Okay, let me know if you want anything. I can fulfill all your requests."

Mary glanced at him, seeing no warmth in his eyes. She coldly curled her lips and said nothing.

She turned to Robert. "Robert, I have to go to work. Let's talk later."

Robert could tell she was unwilling.

But why didn't she resist?

Had all his efforts brought them back to square one?

That couldn't be.

Robert nodded. "Okay, I'll wait for your message."

He turned and left.

As the elevator doors were about to close, Robert saw Matthew grab Mary's chin and kiss her roughly, but she didn't resist.

At that moment, he felt his heart drop.

Matthew bit her lip, and seeing her frown in pain, he sneered. "You two have a good relationship."

Mary said, "He's my friend."

Matthew mocked, "A friend with a hidden motive? Do you know why he came to you?"
