Chapter 52 Still Getting Divorced?
Matthew suddenly stopped, feeling very uncomfortable with Mary's gaze.
"I really don't understand what are you thinking?" Mary asked softly, "Are we still getting divorced?"
Matthew's thin lips pressed tightly together. He suddenly got up from her and went straight to the bathroom.
Mary closed her eyes and let out a sigh.
Mary pondered, 'Stop doing this. Since we had already decided to divorce, we should do it straightforwardly. It would be easier for both of us.'
By the time Matthew came out, Mary was already gone and had skipped breakfast.
She texted him: [I'm waiting for you at the courthouse.]
Matthew's face was as cold as if covered by a layer of frost, his aura chilling and intimidating.
The butler came out, looked around, and asked in confusion, "Sir, has Ms. Smith left?"
The butler knew Mary had come last night, but he had been informed in advance not to come out if he heard any noise. He had expected to see Mary this morning, but he didn't.
Matthew put away his phone, his expression turning colder, "You look busy, don't you?"
Sensing the icy chill emanating from him, the butler quickly shut his mouth and said no more.
Things didn't go well yesterday.
Mary hailed a cab, and as soon as she got in, her phone rang. It was Shirley calling.
"Hello?" Mary answered the phone.
Shirley's sleepy voice came through, "Mary, where are you?"
Mary replied, "I'm out. If you're still sleepy, have a lie-in a little longer."
Shirley said, "I have to work today; no more sleeping."
Mary said, "Then heat breakfast yourself and come back over tonight. There's so much food that I can't finish it all by myself. Let's go check out the new house later."
"Okay," Shirley readily agreed.
After hanging up, Mary looked out of the window. The Montagu Mansion was getting farther and farther away, and she still felt uneasy in her heart.
'This is the last time,' she thought.
She would never allow herself to indulge again.
Once she filed for divorce today, she would resign, and they would have nothing to do with each other from then on.
After arriving at the courthouse, Mary stood at the entrance waiting, but Matthew never showed up.
Mary checked the time; it was already 9:30.
Matthew still hadn't shown up.
What did he mean by this?
Mary called him directly, but he didn't answer, and the call kept ringing until it automatically hung up.
What's going on?
Mary frowned, feeling increasingly impatient.
Dragging out a divorce like this, Matthew really wasn't acting like a man!
At 10:30, Matthew finally replied. Seeing the message, Mary was so angry that she nearly fainted.
Matthew: [Last-minute business trip, expected to return in a week.]
Mary took several deep breaths, trying to calm herself down and not get angry.
But Matthew was just too infuriating!
Of all times, why did he have to go on a business trip now?
No way, this divorce had to happen!
Mary immediately called Michael.
"Ms. Smith." Michael quickly answered, his tone polite but distant.
"Where did Mr. Montagu go on his business trip?" Mary asked.
"Do you have anything urgent?" Michael inquired.
Mary said softly, "It's a matter of life and death. Do you still want to know?"
Michael's eyes widened slightly. Was it what he was thinking of?
If that was the case, then he could tell her.
