Chapter 65 What Will I Do If You Die?

The ambulance took some time to arrive, and Mary dared not move, afraid of causing Matthew secondary trauma.

Watching his face grow paler due to blood loss, she had never felt as panicked as she did at that moment!

Fear completely enveloped her, and she tightly held his uninjured hand.

"Matthew, please..." She murmured in a loe voice.

Choking back tears, everything in front of her became blurry. Mary added, "If something really happens to you, I will definitely hate you, definitely!"

She leaned down, pressing her face against his hand, feeling his warmth. "Matthew, you cannot take my heart and my life, too. Absolutely not!"

The ambulance arrived, and Mary followed to the hospital.

At the emergency room entrance, she was in a daze until the door opened, and a nurse emerged.

"How is he?" Mary asked as she approached anxiously.

The nurse replied, " Who? Who are you?"

"I'm the next kin of the patient who was just brought in. How is he?" Mary asked.

Hearing this, the nurse immediately showed a bit of sympathy.

"Not good. You better prepare yourself," the nurse said before walking away.

Mary stood there in shock.

What to prepare for?

Mary instinctively took a step back, her face instantly turning pale.

No way!

Matthew, who had always been so lucky, how could something happen to him?

It was just a cut and some bleeding. There couldn't be a life-threatening situation!

But Mary couldn't stop her tears from falling or control her trembling!

She bit down on her knuckles, suppressing the urge to cry out, her heart feeling like it was being smashed with a hammer.

It hurt so much!

How could it hurt more than when he wanted to divorce her?

After what seemed like an eternity, doctors and nurses emerged. Mary rushed in without hesitation, and her eyes fell on the person covered by a white sheet.

Her steps faltered, almost causing her to fall.

"Matthew?" Mary called softly.

Her voice was very soft, almost hesitant. She couldn't bring herself to believe that Matthew had died just like that.

How could he die?

Wasn't he going to divorce her?

Wasn't he going to take responsibility for Laura?

Mary reached the bedside, trembling as she tried to lift the white sheet, but her hands were shaking too much to touch it.

Choking back sobs, she said, "Matthew, are you really gone? Do you know that you've disappointed two women at once? Laura lost a leg for you! How could you bear to do this?"

Her tears blurred everything in front of her, and she had never felt as miserable and painful as she did at that moment!

"How could you die? Matthew, what will I do?" she cried, her legs giving out as she collapsed.

But at that moment, someone grabbed her arm.

A sigh sounded above Mary's head, "I'm not dead yet. Isn't it too early to cry?"

Mary was stunned.

She turned her head abruptly and saw Matthew standing there perfectly fine. She then looked at the bed in front of her and reached out to lift the white sheet, revealing the face of a stranger.

Mary fell silent.

She had been crying for a stranger all this time!

"Are you okay?" Mary asked in disbelief.

She looked at Matthew, tears still clinging to her eyelashes, her voice still very soft, almost imperceptibly trembling.
