Chapter 819 Appreciating Beauty is Human Nature

Shirley turned her head and saw Herman.

Without changing her expression, she looked back at Mary. "You know what? I'm suddenly not feeling barbecue anymore. What do you think?"

Mary chuckled.

Herman, standing nearby, raised an eyebrow and walked over, pinching Shirley's cheek to make her look up. "What's that supposed to mean? You don't wanna see me?"

Shirley swatted his hand away. "Do you really not know if I wanna see you or not?"

Herman narrowed his eyes. "Actually, I don't. Why don't you spell it out for me?"

Shirley scoffed. "Don't interrupt our meal. Men should keep their distance!"

Herman smirked and leaned in close to her ear, whispering so only she could hear, "Wait for me tonight."

With that, he straightened up and walked away.

Mary pretended not to notice anything.

Anthony then chimed in, "From a professional standpoint, this young lady clearly doesn't want to see you."

Shirley was speechless.

She turned to Anthony. "Anthony, are you a psychologist?"

Anthony nodded. "Yep, I am."

Shirley immediately covered her face. "Does that mean you can tell what I'm thinking just by looking at me?"

Anthony's expression remained neutral, his tone calm. "I'm not a mind reader, I'm a doctor."

Shirley breathed a sigh of relief. "You scared me. I thought I wouldn't have any secrets around you."

Anthony, enjoying the drama, said to Herman, "She has secrets about you."

Shirley protested, "Anthony, did I do something to you?"

Anthony glanced at her. "Do I know you?"

Shirley's mouth twitched. Was there something wrong with this guy?

Herman interjected, "If you don't know her, why do you keep staring at her?"

Anthony replied earnestly, "Admiring beauty is a human instinct."

Shirley laughed. "Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Shirley."

Anthony extended his hand politely. "Anthony Brown."

Shirley pulled out her phone. "Dr. Brown, can I add you on WhatsApp? If I ever have any psychological issues, can I reach out to you directly?"

Anthony was about to take out his phone when Herman's displeased voice interrupted. "Enough, you two. Do you think I'm invisible?"

Anthony responded, "She just wants convenience. Why not?"

"That's enough."

Herman glared at Anthony dangerously.

Anthony's neutral expression took on a hint of amusement. "Looks like you're falling for her."

Shirley blinked her big eyes. "What? What did you say?"

Herman pushed her face back towards her plate. "Eat your barbecue."

Then he shot a warning look at Anthony, signaling him to stop talking.

Anthony smiled but didn't say anything further.

Mary watched their exchange, a subtle smile playing on her lips.

At that moment, a deep, affectionate gaze fell on her face.

She didn't need to look to know it was Matthew.

The waiter came over to check on their order.

Mary said, "We've already ordered."

The waiter smiled and asked, "Would you like something to drink?"

Shirley said, "Beer, please. Cold!"

Matthew interjected, "She can't have anything cold."

Shirley glanced at him, then seemed to remember something, drawing out her words.

Mary's eyelid twitched. "Juice is fine, thank you."
