Chapter 826 You Really Don't Want It?
"I had to take care of some personal stuff." Maria walked in, flashing a playful smile at Sean before winking at Mary. "Did you miss me?"
Mary, slightly exasperated by her antics, pushed her hand away. "There's a mountain of paperwork waiting for you. Get to it and don't slow down our studio's progress."
Maria was speechless.
Workaholic!
If she had known, she wouldn't have come back so early!
But she couldn't say much about what she had been up to. If Mary found out, she might get angry. And with Matthew and Mary's relationship starting to improve, she didn't want to mess things up and become the villain of the story.
"Alright, I'll get busy. You guys can slack off a bit."
Maria smiled faintly and headed to her office. As she passed Sean, she gave him a meaningful look.
Sean frowned but ignored her.
Mary turned her attention back to her screen and ended the livestream.
It seemed like the issue had been resolved.
Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen—it was Matthew calling.
Mary answered.
Matthew's deep, pleasant voice came through. "Did you watch the livestream?"
Mary replied, "I did."
Matthew chuckled softly. "Were you impressed by how handsome I looked?"
Mary was speechless.
She checked her phone, thinking she might have misheard. She had assumed he was calling about the video incident, but instead, he was asking if she thought he was handsome.
Mary, feeling a bit exasperated, said, "Is the issue resolved now?"
Matthew responded, "Why aren't you answering my question? I watched the replay, and the comments were all about how outrageously handsome I am. Mary, are you sure you don't want to reconsider? I'm so handsome, are you really going to pass on this?"
Mary's mouth twitched. "Yes, I'm sure."
With that, she hung up.
Matthew was so annoying!
Montagu Group.
CEO's office.
Matthew sighed as he looked at the disconnected call.
He checked the weather forecast for tomorrow, hoping for a snowstorm so he wouldn't have to go out.
But the forecast showed clear skies and a temperature rise.
His expression darkened. This forecast was unreliable.
He tossed his phone aside and pressed the intercom.
"Mr. Montagu, any instructions?"
Michael's voice came through.
Matthew asked, "What's my schedule for the rest of the day?"
Michael recited the upcoming tasks.
Matthew said, "Push everything to tomorrow."
Michael was taken aback. "Why? A lot of this can be done today."
Matthew replied, "I want to rest today. Is that a problem?"
Michael was speechless.
You're the boss. If you want to rest, who would dare say no?
"Alright."
Michael had no choice but to agree.
"Never mind."
Matthew changed his mind. "Finish everything today."
Michael was speechless.
Matthew's thoughts were truly unpredictable.
The video clarification had reduced the buzz, and the internet was now abuzz with discussions about Matthew's looks. But the hype was dying down, gradually being replaced by other news.
Evening.
Mary left work early to buy groceries, planning to cook a nice meal at home.
"Mary, check out the news!"
