Chapter 838 Blindness

Mary had been blindfolded the whole time, unable to see a thing, relying only on her hearing to make sense of her surroundings.

Her heart kept sinking. The person with her wouldn't say a word, and she had no clue who they were.

Why wouldn't they talk?

Were they scared she'd recognize them?

If that was the case, then it had to be someone she knew.

Who could it be?

Throughout the ride, Mary's mind raced, trying to figure it out. She tried talking to the person, but they completely ignored her.

She was exhausted by the time they finally arrived.

The car stopped, and she was led out, walking in a certain direction.

The ground was smooth at first, but then she stepped onto uneven bricks.

She was confused. Where was she?

After a while, someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.

"Ms. Smith, I'll be taking care of you from now on."

The person holding her hand spoke. It was a middle-aged woman, her voice gentle.

"Who are you? Where am I?" Mary seized the chance to ask.

The woman replied, "You can call me Liliana. If you need anything, just let me know."

But she ignored the other questions Mary had asked.

Mary felt a deep sense of helplessness.

"I'm here now, why won't anyone talk to me? Wasn't I supposed to see Nora once I got here? Where is she?"

Mary was genuinely angry, shouting in frustration.

Liliana stayed silent. After a while, an electronic voice sounded.

"Nora is fine. Stay here quietly, and she won't be harmed."

"You lied to me!"

Mary turned sharply towards the voice. "Why are you doing this? Who are you?"

The person didn't respond. Footsteps echoed as they walked away.

No! They couldn't leave! If they left, what would she do?

"Stop! Don't go!"

Mary chased after the sound, but with her eyes covered, she couldn't see anything and had no sense of direction.

Liliana grabbed her firmly. "Ms. Smith, let me take you to your room to rest."

With that, she forcefully led Mary away.

"Let go, let go of me!"

Mary struggled, but her hands were bound, making her efforts useless.

They went up some stairs and entered a room. Liliana said, "I'll untie your ropes. Don't wander around. There are guards everywhere, and you won't be able to escape. If you anger the boss, it won't end well for you."

She then untied the ropes around Mary's hands.

Mary pursed her lips. Once her hands were free, she immediately removed the blindfold.

She opened her eyes, but it was still pitch black!

She couldn't believe it, her eyes wide open, touching her face.

"What's going on? Why can't I see? What's happening?"

Mary's voice trembled.

Before, she thought it was the blindfold, but now it was clear that it wasn't the case.

The people who took her had done something to her eyes!

Liliana said, "To prevent you from escaping, the boss temporarily blinded you. Once you behave, he'll restore your sight."

"Why are you doing this to me?" Mary stood up abruptly, shouting, "Who is this boss? Why is he doing this to me? What does he want?"
