Chapter 662 Shameless
Mary stared at him, her eyes wide with disbelief. "What are you talking about?"
Matthew smirked, and there was a hint of mischief in his eyes.
"Because you sued me, I went bankrupt faster and lost the board's trust. I'm no longer the CEO of DK Group. I'm unemployed now. So, as my legal wife, you have to take responsibility for me."
Mary's eyes widened in shock.
What did he just say?
The consequence he kept talking about was that if he failed, she had to take responsibility for him?
What kind of twisted logic was this?
"No way, I'm not taking care of you!" Mary shook her head, still in disbelief.
It was ridiculous.
He was the one who refused to divorce her. Now that he failed, what did it have to do with her?
If he had divorced her earlier, would the Montagu Group have targeted him? Would he have ended up like this?
Matthew sat down next to her and said, "Mary, you can't refuse me, and you can't kick me out. So save your energy. After all, the court hearing is in a month."
Shirley, who had been listening for a while, finally reacted and exclaimed, "Oh my God, I've never seen someone so shameless!"
How could he say such things?
Was his mind even functioning properly?
Mary frowned at Matthew and then took out her phone to call the police.
Matthew noticed her actions and said calmly, "Do you think the police will get involved in matters between a husband and wife?"
Even though the court hearing was a month away, they were still legally married.
They hadn't had any violent conflicts.
Even if they did, the police wouldn't be able to change anything.
Mary's fingers paused on the dial pad. She pursed her lips and looked at Matthew, speechless.
She was astounded by his shamelessness.
Matthew smiled faintly. "I know you admire me, but you don't have to look at me like that."
Mary was at a loss for words.
She turned to Shirley and said, "Close the door."
Shirley pointed at Matthew. "Wait, you're just going to let him stay here?"
"What else can I do?" Mary looked at her. "Do you have a better idea to get him out?"
Shirley fell silent.
Just the fact that they were married left them with no options. Matthew could stay here with a clear conscience, and even if he got cozy with Mary right in front of her, there was nothing she could do.
She wished she could fast-forward to the court date and see the judge declare their divorce.
Nothing could be more exciting than that.
Matthew picked up his suitcase and headed towards the bedroom.
Shirley immediately blocked his way. "No, you can't stay in the master bedroom. Mary needs her rest."
Matthew gave her a cold look, clearly annoyed.
Shirley felt a sense of danger but stood her ground.
This was the last line of defense!
After a silent standoff, Matthew was the first to compromise. He turned and walked towards another room.
He entered one of the guest rooms.
The house had three guest rooms and a master bedroom. Shirley occupied one of the guest rooms, leaving two others.
Shirley's face was full of disdain as she watched Matthew enter the guest room.
She walked over to Mary, sat down next to her, and sighed, shaking her head.
