Chapter 126 Bad Luck
Robert said, "I'll go with you. He won't mess with you if I'm there."
Mary felt a warmth in her heart but smiled and shook her head. "No. He's my husband. I can handle him."
Robert's eyes flickered, and he nodded. "Alright. Let me know if you need help."
"Okay," Mary replied.
Robert turned and left as Mary was heading to the private room A12.
At the door, she took a couple of deep breaths to steady herself before pushing it open and stepping inside.
The spacious room had a view of the scene below. The noise from downstairs was muffled but still present.
Matthew sat on the sofa, holding a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other, looking all high and mighty.
Across from him, a handsome stranger was eyeing her curiously.
Mary didn't have time to focus on him; she was looking for Shirley.
Shirley was sitting on a chair, being held down by Sam. When she saw Mary, she tried to get up, but Sam pushed her back down.
"How dare you! I thought you were a good guy before. You helped us, and I was grateful. But are you actually working for this jerk? So, was all your previous help on his orders?" Shirley glared at Sam.
At first, she didn't recognize him, but once inside the private room, she remembered him as the guy who had helped when some drunks were harassing her and Mary! And now he was working for Matthew!
How despicable!
Sam remained expressionless as if he hadn't heard her.
"Let her go!" Mary walked over, pushed Sam aside, and he took a couple of steps back, then turned to Matthew.
Matthew gave him a cold glance. Sam immediately lowered his head, his face even more blank.
Herman, watching from the side and enjoying the drama, remarked, "Matthew, this lady looks familiar. She seems quite a match for you, huh? Is she your wife?"
Matthew replied, "Good call."
Herman continued, "You know, in my line of work, I can spot talent. The moment I see someone, I know if they'll make it big. You know? I'm always right!"
Matthew coldly glanced at him, then turned to Mary.
"Mary, have I ever deprived you of food or clothes? Do you have to perform here for money?" His tone was icy, his words cutting.
Mary looked at him and sneered, "You provided enough, but it will cost my life. Life is short, so why not enjoy it? I've been shielding Laura from danger, so I want to live as I wish. Do you have a problem with that?"
As she finished speaking, Shirley exploded, "Jerk! I've never met anyone more disgusting than you in my life. It would be best if you had starved to death when Mary found you on the street. She really had bad luck!"
"Sam, restrain her!" Matthew said coldly.
Sam immediately reached out and held Shirley down.
Mary's face turned cold. "Stop it. If you have a grudge, come at me! Let her go."
"You? What do you have to offer?" Matthew's cold gaze fell on her face.
Mary was furious. She wanted to rush over and slap him, but she couldn't!
Shirley was still here; Sam was his man, and with just a word from him, Shirley could be hurt!
