Chapter 795 Collecting a Little Interest

The two of them stood close, and Matthew's subtle, crisp scent mixed with a hint of tobacco drifted over to Mary.

His narrow eyes locked onto hers, deep and mysterious like an ancient well, as if they could pull her in and never let go.

Mary's long lashes fluttered slightly before she took a step back and turned away, saying, "I won't regret it."

With that, she headed straight for the study.

Matthew watched her retreating figure, her voice so certain, leaving him feeling a sense of helplessness.

Was her heart really made of stone?

Had she not noticed any of his changes?

He followed her inside, speaking as he walked, "Joey came to you about this. If he finds out you're actually his sister, he might regret it."

Mary's tone remained indifferent. "I don't care."

She didn't have high expectations for familial love. Her reason for seeking out her real family was simply to stop those who had wronged her from continuing to enjoy a life of luxury.

What was taken from her had to be returned!

Whether Joey would regret it was his business, not hers.

Matthew gazed at her, silent for a long time.

Mary reached the study door, glanced back at him, and asked, "Aren't you leaving?"

Matthew replied, "We're getting divorced in two weeks. I just want to spend some time with you."

With that, he walked over.

"Go ahead, I won't bother you."

He sat down on the sofa.

Her expression grew even more indifferent as she went to her computer, powered it on, and began typing, fully absorbed in her work.

When she was busy, she was completely focused, not caring if anyone was around.

Matthew watched her openly, the amusement in his eyes growing, his feelings almost impossible to hide.

His gaze was so intense that even Mary, who had become quite adept at ignoring distractions, couldn't help but be affected.

She looked up at him. "You're kind of in the way here."

Matthew fell silent.

Just watching wasn't allowed?

Why was Mary so domineering?

"Fine, I won't watch you. I'm leaving."

Matthew stood up and walked over to her. Under her puzzled gaze, he suddenly leaned down and kissed her forehead, then turned and left.

"You kicked me out, so I'm not happy. I had to take a little interest."

The study door closed, and his voice faded away.

Mary touched the spot where he had kissed her, a hint of distraction in her eyes.

Would she regret it?

Once all the paperwork was done, they'd have nothing to do with each other. He was the CEO of the Montagu Group, handsome, with countless admirers. Maybe one day, he'd find a girl he truly connected with, get married, and have kids.

And she...

Mary closed her eyes briefly. Why did she think so much?

Wasn't divorce what she always wanted?

No room for hesitation.

Without ties to him, they could both start anew, and all the pain and sorrow that had plagued them would disappear.

Mary composed herself and continued working.

When Maria returned, she personally interviewed two designers, both fresh out of college. They had good ideas and were practical, so she decided to give them a trial run.

Mary immediately involved them in the winery design project.

Looking at the blueprints, they were encouraged to share any thoughts and would also visit the site for assessments.
