Chapter 71 All of the Door Couldn't be Opened

It was already late at night, and the surroundings were completely silent. Not a single soul was in sight, let alone a taxi.

Thinking about the weird phone call she received, Mary felt a sense of unease.

She clutched her bag strap and said, "We're getting a divorce right away. Is it not appropriate for me to stay at your place?"

"Have we filed for divorce?" Matthew looked at her.

Mary replied, "Not yet."

Matthew asked, "Then what are you hesitating about? Are you afraid you won't be able to control yourself and have an attempt on me?"

Mary looked at him as if he were crazy.

"Heh, you're really narcissistic!" With that, she walked towards his car.

Mary pondered, 'An attempt on him? That was absolutely impossible!'

As he watched Mary walk away, Matthew's smile deepened slightly.

At the Montagu Mansion.

The butler knew in advance that Matthew was returning, so the entire mansion and courtyard were brightly lit.

As Mary entered, she saw the butler and suddenly remembered something, asking in confusion, "Have you been here all this time?"

The butler was about to nod but caught Matthew's gaze and froze, quickly saying, "I'm about to finish work. I was waiting for your return, so I stayed."

He turned to Matthew. "Mr. Montagu, now that you're back, I'll head home."

"Alright, be safe on the way," Matthew replied.

The butler turned and left.

Mary stared suspiciously at the butler's retreating figure. Was it really like that?

But why did she feel that something was off?

"Are you not tired?" Matthew asked.

Mary looked away and blinked. "Where will I sleep?"

Matthew said, "There are plenty of rooms here. Pick one."

Mary nodded, but when she reached for a door, she found it locked. She tried another one, and it was closed, too.

She wondered, 'What's going on?'

Every room was locked up.

She turned to Matthew, only to see him heading towards the main bedroom.

"Hey!" Mary called out, but he showed no sign of stopping.

She hurried after Matthew and stopped him. "Didn't you hear me?"

Matthew turned to her indifferently. "Don't I have a name?"

Mary paused. "Why can't I open any of the rooms?"

"I just got back. I don't know either," Matthew replied.

Mary hesitated. "So, where will I sleep?"

Matthew opened the door to the main bedroom and said, "This one is open."

Mary felt something was off!

Matthew, ignoring her, entered the main bedroom and began unbuttoning his shirt.

As he undressed, his tie was pulled off and tossed aside, followed by his shirt and jacket.

Mary watched, feeling her heart quicken.

Matthew's appearance was truly impressive. With such simple movements, he exuded a restrained yet captivating charm that Mary found hard to resist.

She had always been superficial, or else why would she have brought him home?

"Not satisfied with just looking?" A deep, pleasant male voice sounded.

Mary snapped back to reality, a blush appearing on her face.

"Who said I was looking at you!" She walked straight in and lay down on the sofa.

Being unable to enter other rooms, Mary was absolutely unwilling to sleep in the main bedroom since it was the same as a lamb walking into a lion's den.

Watching her, Matthew chuckled softly and then walked over. His shirt was completely unbuttoned.
