Chapter 580 Perhaps Already Knew
Joan kept an eye on Robert's actions and saw him walk straight over to Mary, chatting and laughing with her. Joan's face immediately turned darkened.
"Carrie, since when did Robert get so close to Mary?" Joan asked Carrie, who was standing next to her.
Carrie glanced at Mary and shook her head. "I don't know. Who is she?"
Carrie had been abroad and didn't know who Mary was.
Joan glared at Mary viciously and said, "A bitch who only knows how to use tricks to seduce men."
Hearing this, Carrie's eyebrows furrowed immediately. "If that's the case, I'll advise Robert not to get too close to her."
Joan nodded immediately. "Yes, you should talk to Robert. Mary is clearly just cozying up to people for money. She doesn't deserve Robert's favor at all."
Robert walked straight over and saw Matthew and Mary's intimate behavior. His eyes darkened slightly, but he still smiled. "You're here too."
Mary saw him and smiled slightly. "Yes, I came with my boss."
She nodded in the direction where Maria was.
Robert glanced over, his expression pausing for a moment before he said, "If you find it boring, you can take a walk outside. The garden here has a nice view."
Mary couldn't blend into the atmosphere here, and the lively vibe of others didn't affect her.
She said, "I'll leave when I get tired."
Robert nodded. "By the way, I haven't told you about that matter yet. Is now a good time?"
Mary blinked and then realized he was probably talking about Gerald. She immediately pulled her hand away forcefully, stood up, and said, "Sure, let's go outside and talk."
Robert nodded, and the two of them went out to the balcony.
It was very quiet here, in stark contrast to the noise inside.
Matthew's face had already darkened. Looking at his empty hand, he thought she had deliberately held his hand just now, but now she couldn't wait to shake him off for Robert.
Use and discard? How dared she!
On the balcony.
Robert's expression became more serious. "You need to be prepared. Gerald's body might not hold out much longer."
Mary became very tense. "What do you mean?"
Robert took out his phone, found a picture, and showed it to her. "I had someone take a picture of his current condition. He's in very bad shape."
Mary saw it and immediately covered her mouth, her eyes full of disbelief.
Gerald was lying on the floor, extremely thin, with wounds all over his body, both new and old. His eyes were empty, staring ahead, clearly having lost the will to live.
How could this happen?
Robert said, "He has been refusing to admit it, so Matthew's people have been torturing him."
Mary's breathing tightened. "After all this time, hasn't he suspected anything?"
Robert said quietly, "What if he has suspected, or even known the truth all along?"
"What?" Mary was stunned again.
Robert found another photo and showed it to her. "Look at this person. Doesn't his back look exactly like Gerald's?"
Mary looked and, at first glance, thought she saw a perfectly fine Gerald.
