Chapter 699 Does Sammy Have an Identity?

"You know the longer you stay in Lindwood City, the higher the risk of being exposed," the voice on the other end of the phone warned.

Sammy replied casually, "Chill out, I got this. Besides, the fun's just starting. I need to enjoy myself before I bounce."

With that, he hung up the phone. The night grew darker, and his figure melted into the shadows of the alley, disappearing swiftly.

Back at Maple Grove Manor, the two women had showered and were now cozied up in the home theater, watching a movie.

Shirley sipped her juice and asked, "Mary, aren't you curious about who this Sammy guy really is? He seems to show up wherever you are."

Mary, focused on the movie, replied, "I've noticed. That's why I think there's no need to get to know him."

After everything she'd been through, how could she not be cautious? Sammy's identity was too mysterious. First, he claimed to have amnesia, and now he said he had regained some of his memory. But how much of what he said was true?

She didn't mind. The construction at the villa was almost finished, just waiting for Matthew to inspect it. If everything checked out, this project would be done, and she could resign and leave Lindwood City. Before leaving, she planned to finalize her divorce.

She had her own plans and wouldn't let any unexpected changes disrupt them.

Shirley glanced at her and said, "Mary, you've really toughened up because of that jerk Matthew."

Mary looked puzzled. "What do you mean?"

Shirley chuckled, "You're immune to Sammy's looks. With Matthew as a comparison, it's no wonder you don't care about Sammy."

Mary rolled her eyes. "Why is that where your mind goes?"

Shirley shrugged, "What else should I focus on? Everything's on hold right now. Even if I wanted to focus on something else, there's nothing to focus on."

Mary had to admit, she had a point. "Is Herman still bothering you?"

Shirley's eyes fixed on the screen. "Let's just watch the movie."

Her relationship with Herman was a mess. She hadn't given him an answer yet, but he kept showing up, which annoyed her. She was constantly thinking about how to end things with him but hadn't found a good solution.

Mary went to the construction site again. After inspecting everything and finding no issues, she took Matthew's number off the block list and called him.

"Mrs. Montagu," answered Michael instead.

"Where's Matthew?" Mary asked.

"Mr. Montagu is in a meeting. Can you call back later?" Michael replied.

"How long will it take?" Mary continued.

Michael hesitated. "I'm not sure. Maybe you could wait for him to call you back?"

"Fine," Mary agreed, hanging up and leaving the site to return to her studio.

At the hospital, Michael carefully handed the phone back to Matthew.

Matthew, engrossed in his documents, said coldly, "Just leave it there."

"Get it," Michael said, placing the phone down. After a moment of thought, he added, "Mr. Montagu, what if Mrs. Montagu finds out about this deception?"

Matthew's icy gaze met his. "She won't find out unless you tell her."

Michael quickly assured him, "I swear, I won't say a word!"
