Chapter 332 Aren't You Afraid Your Husband Will Misunderstand?
Mary was like, "Robert, it's just a little snack. You can munch on it when you're not super hungry."
Robert gave a helpless smile. The scars on his face were pretty noticeable, making his otherwise handsome face look kinda rough.
Mary plopped down by the hospital bed and asked, "Are you seriously hurt?"
Robert coughed and said, "Nah, it's just a few broken bones. No biggie."
Mary's breath hitched, feeling even more guilty. "I'm sorry."
"Hey, anyone who saw you faint on the street wouldn't just stand by. I helped because I wanted to, so don't feel bad. If you really wanna make it up to me, how about cooking for me? You can handle my meals while I'm stuck here. Sound good?" He looked at her with a chill tone and a forgiving gaze.
Mary nodded. "Sure thing, I'll make sure you pack on some pounds!"
Robert's mouth twitched slightly.
Mary realized her words were a bit off, touched her nose, and said, "I'll whip up some nutritious stuff to help your bones heal faster."
"Alright." Robert agreed.
Looking at her pale face, Robert asked, "Did he really not hurt you?"
Mary shook her head. "Nope, it's all sorted out."
Robert added, "Did you get a divorce?"
Mary smiled bitterly. "If I got a divorce, I'd be throwing a party to celebrate."
Robert said, "I can hook you up with the best lawyer."
"It's pointless." Mary shook her head. "As long as it's something he doesn't want, no means will work."
Robert sighed, "Maybe, one day when he falls for someone else, he'll let you go."
"Maybe," Mary murmured.
Just then, the door to the ward suddenly flew open, and a figure rushed in.
"Robert, you're hurt? How did you get hurt?" Joan Bailey looked at him, all worried and tense.
Robert instinctively glanced at Mary, then asked, "Joan, why are you here?"
Joan said, "I heard you were hurt, so I came right away. Robert, who did this? Tell me, and I'll teach them a lesson!"
Robert said, "Matthew, go teach him a lesson."
Joan was stunned. "Matthew? No way!"
Robert said, "I have no reason to lie to you."
Joan bit her lip and said, "Alright, I'll deal with him, but right now I wanna take care of you. Robert, fire the nurse. I'll stay and take care of you."
As she spoke, she looked at Mary. "You can leave now. There's nothing for you to do here!"
Joan mistook Mary for the caregiver.
Mary's mouth twitched, and she said, "I'm not a caregiver."
Hearing this, Joan immediately got suspicious. "Then who are you? Why are you here?"
Robert frowned. "Joan, stop messing around. She's my friend."
Joan gave Mary a wary look. Mary was so beautiful—could Robert be interested in her?
Seeing the blatant hostility in Joan's eyes, Mary could only say, "Don't get the wrong idea, I'm already married."
Hearing this, Joan immediately relaxed and said, "Oh, you're married. Then why are you here? Aren't you afraid your husband will get the wrong idea?"
Mary fell silent.
What kind of weird logic was that from Joan?
Joan said, "You should leave now. I'll handle things here."
Her attitude improved a bit, but she still didn't like Mary being there.
