Chapter 238 Who Do You Think You Are?

Matthew stood there for a while before heading back to the car.

Michael sensed the tension and cautiously started the car, driving to the Opulent Oasis Hotel.

When they arrived, Matthew said coldly, "Find out who she was with today."

Michael nodded, "Got it."

Mary got back to the hotel, took a shower, and called David.

No answer.

She sighed, frustrated.

She hadn't expected things to go this way.

She'd been drunk, thinking about the old Matthew before he regained his memory.

She couldn't focus on anything else.

Once sober, she realized David might have misunderstood.

Mary thought, 'I'll explain next time.'

After her shower, she went to bed.

The next day, it rained again, so Mary didn't book a return ticket.

She spent the whole day at the hotel. By evening, the rain stopped, and she decided to go out for dinner.

Mary put on a tank top and a light jacket and headed out.

She wandered around a nearby food street.

She walked into a Mexican restaurant and unexpectedly ran into David.

David saw her too and walked over with a complicated expression.

"Sorry, I've been busy and missed your call," David apologized, sitting across from her.

Mary smiled slightly. "It's okay."

David stared at her. "Aren't you going to explain? How did you marry that investor?"

Mary's expression was indifferent. "Thanks for taking me to see the stars. I liked it, but I don't owe you an explanation about my private life."

David's face stiffened. "You..."

Mary looked at him calmly. "Found a job yet?"

She clearly didn't want to continue the previous topic.

After thinking it over, she realized she had nothing to explain.

To her, David was just an ordinary friend.

No need to explain so much to an ordinary friend.

A trace of sadness flashed in David's eyes as he realized he was reading too much into things.

"Not yet. I've applied a few times, but they said I wasn't suitable. I'll keep looking," David said.

Mary replied, "Lindenville is small, chances are slim. If you can't find a job, what's your plan?"

David said, "We'll see, but I'm not leaving Lindenville."

Mary didn't say anything more.

The Mexican food arrived, and Mary started eating.

David didn't leave; he just sat across from her, looking like he wanted to say something, with hesitation and reluctance in his eyes.

"Hey, isn't that Mary? Eating here is so boring. Come with me, I'll take you to a fancy dinner!"

Peter and his group walked over and surrounded them.

The small restaurant quickly emptied as other customers left.

David's face turned serious as he looked at Peter. "What are you doing?"

Peter's men immediately pinned David to the table.

Peter sneered. "Do I gotta report to you? Who do you think you are?"
