Chapter 317 Go to Bed

Laura's face lit up like a Christmas tree!

Matthew was rocking a bathrobe, but he was still dripping wet, looking like he just stepped out of a freezer.

"What did you just say?"

His narrow eyes were dark, like they were covered in ice.

Laura felt a chill run down her spine, but she stood her ground and said, "Mary sent me over. She ain't coming back tonight. Matthew, she doesn't love you anymore. She's willing to do this to get a divorce. Forget her. Feeling crappy? Let me help you, okay?"

As she spoke, she boldly reached out to Matthew.

Matthew was fuming!

Matthew thought, 'Mary sent Laura here? She's actually pushing me to another woman? Fine!'

Matthew's eyes were icy as he stared at Laura. "You really wanna help me? You sure you won't regret it?"

Laura immediately poured her heart out, looking at him with admiration. "Matthew, I backed off before 'cause I thought you two were in love. I wished you well, but letting go broke my heart.. I really love you, Matthew. As long as I'm with you, I won't regret it."

Matthew's lips twisted into a mocking smile, and he said coldly, "Get on the bed!"

Laura was over the moon!

She thought, 'Did Matthew finally agree? Am I gonna marry him? I'm one step closer to my goal!'

Excited, Laura didn't notice the coldness in Matthew's eyes. Her face showed shyness as she walked towards the bed.

Mary was playing with Victoria for a bit.

Just then, a servant pushed open the door and said, "Mrs. Mary Montagu, Mrs. Victoria Montagu needs to rest."

Right on cue, Victoria yawned.

Seeing this, Mary handed the string to Victoria and said, "Grandma, keep this safe. I'll play with you next time I come, okay?"

Victoria looked a bit tired. "Okay."

Mary said, "Then you should rest early. I'll head back now."

"Yes, you go back too. Go sleep with Matthew and have great-grandchildren," Victoria said.

Mary felt a bit helpless and thought, 'After all that playtime, she still remembers that?'

Leaving Victoria's room, Mary slowly walked upstairs. The earlier spat with Matthew made her not wanna see him at all.

But no matter how slow she walked, she had to get there.

Mary stood at the door, took a deep breath. It was just one night; she could handle it.

'The room's big enough; I can crash on the couch!' With that thought, Mary opened the door.

But the next second, a startled cry came from the bedroom, tinged with shyness and fear.

Mary froze, her blood running cold.

Her long eyelashes trembled as she took two steps inside.

Then, a disheveled figure ran out, and a prosthetic leg was the first thing she saw.

Laura saw her, bit her lip, her face still flushed, and ran past her.

Mary suddenly reached out to stop her. "Why are you running?"

Her tone was icy, filled with an absurd thought that she found laughable. She grabbed Laura's wrist and dragged her towards the bedroom.

Laura started to struggle. "What are you doing? Let go of me!"
