Chapter 93 Michael Thought he Overthought it
Mary had just sat down at her desk and turned on her computer when the chatter around her quieted down.
She turned in confusion, only to see Matthew standing beside her.
She paused, "Mr. Montagu, is there anything you need?"
Matthew's deep-set eyes rested on her face, his voice low and magnetic as he said, "Yes, come with me."
"Okay," Mary responded.
Michael called her, and she said she was busy. Now Matthew had come in person, and suddenly she was available, didn't she?
Matthew's mouth twitched in irritation.
Mary followed him into the CEO's office. Michael cast a dissatisfied glance at Mary, but she pretended not to notice.
In the CEO's office, Mary's expressionless face met Matthew's gaze. She asked politely, "What can I do for you, Mr. Montagu?"
Matthew's deep eyes fell on her face, his expression as cold and noble as ever. He said lightly, "I already know about that night. I agree to all your conditions."
"Okay," Mary replied without much emotion.
Matthew raised an eyebrow, "What's with the attitude?"
"What attitude should I have? Do I need to be grateful to you for buying my life?" Mary retorted.
An eerie silence fell over the office.
After a moment, Mary looked at Matthew and said, "If you have nothing else, I'll leave."
"Fine," Matthew coldly replied.
Mary turned and walked out without looking back.
Matthew pinched the bridge of his nose, his expression growing colder.
Outside the office, Michael spoke up, "Mrs. Montagu, did I do anything to upset you?"
"Hmm?" Mary looked at him in confusion, "Upset about what?"
Michael fell silent.
He wondered, 'Am I overthinking it?'
After a while, Michael said, puzzled, "Mrs. Montagu, why did you say you were busy when I called you earlier?"
"Well, I was indeed busy," Mary blinked.
Michael fell silent again.
After waiting for a while and seeing he had nothing more to say, Mary added, "If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving."
With that, she didn't wait for Michael's response and turned to leave.
Back at her desk, Mary had a moment of confusion.
Matthew knew about that night, so what?
He hadn't even apologized to her.
Matthew accused her and didn't even offer an apology, simply brushing it off.
What did she expect him to say?
Mary chuckled to herself, realizing that in his eyes, she held no importance at all.
She even dared to speculate that she wasn't worth as much as a single hair of Laura's.
Closing her eyes, she pushed away those chaotic thoughts and focused on her work.
At noon, she retrieved a package from the bottom of her desk, which she didn't recall before Robert had mentioned to her.
It must be Robert's clothes.
His expensive clothes—how could she deal with them?
Mary opened the package and saw a slightly wrinkled shirt and suit jacket. She took out her phone to search for cleaning methods, then neatly stored the clothes away to wash at home.
In the afternoon, she clocked out and headed to the elevator. As the elevator doors opened, she saw Matthew standing inside, tall and handsome, his gaze fixed on her face.
