Chapter 130 Want to Change Your Identity?
Mary stumbled out of the car, feeling the effects of too much alcohol. She looked up, and a wave of dizziness hit her, causing her to stagger.
Robert saw her and quickly reached out. "Are you okay?"
Mary steadied herself and realized how close they were. She pulled back and forced a smile. "I'm fine, just a bit dizzy."
Robert frowned. "How could you get home like this? Let me help you."
"No..." Mary shook her head, about to say more, when a familiar voice interrupted from nearby. "Why don't you get a room?"
Mary and Robert turned to see Matthew sitting in a car, the window down. His face was cold and grim, and his narrow eyes were locked on them.
Mary bit her lip, looked away, and said to Robert, "I'll head back first."
Robert looked worried. "Mary, how about..."
"It's fine." Mary gave him a small smile and walked towards the apartment building.
Robert watched her fading figure, then turned to Matthew with a sly grin. "Matthew, if you love someone else, why not just divorce her? Don't you feel guilty holding her back like this?"
Matthew's eyes were icy. "What? Tired of being a bastard son and now want to play the lover? Is that it?"
Robert's smile turned cold, his eyes dangerous. But Matthew didn't even flinch. He looked away and told the driver to go. The car drove off.
Robert's gaze grew colder, but then his smile turned mischievous.
Their relationship had hit rock bottom; Mary would eventually give up on Matthew when disappointment had reached a certain level.
Mary went upstairs and headed straight to the bathroom. She sank into the warm water, trying to ease her discomfort.
Closing her eyes, she thought about Matthew's behavior tonight.
He was so cold and heartless. So different from the man he used to be. What was he really thinking?
If he was unhappy with what Shirley said, he could divorce Mary. Why drag it out?
Was he really willing to sacrifice Mary's life to keep Laura safe?
Mary didn't want to believe that. She always felt Matthew was better than that.
Her thoughts grew more chaotic, and she sank deeper, letting the feeling of suffocation take over.
She heard muffled sounds and suddenly emerged from the water, wiping her face. She opened her eyes to see Matthew standing not far away. She was startled!
"How did you get in?" She widened her eyes in disbelief.
She had changed the password lock, and only she and Shirley knew the code. How did he get in?
Matthew just looked at her coldly, unbuttoned his collar, removed his tie, and tossed it aside.
Sensing danger, Mary tried to get up, but he was already in front of her. He pushed her back into the bathtub.
