Chapter 10 Antonio Found Her

In the evening, Ethan and Harper were chowing down with Michael in the apartment.

They were happily munching away.

Harper looked satisfied; this was her favorite, but...

"Yeah, it's not as good as Mom's cooking, but it's still pretty solid. Michael's got some serious chef skills!"

"I still dig Mom's cooking more," Ethan said. Seeing Harper's messy face, he grabbed a napkin and wiped the soup off her mouth.

Michael suddenly got curious and asked, "Your mom must be super tired raising three kids, huh?"

Hearing this, they paused, looked at Michael, and then nodded seriously.

Harper quickly responded, "Mom did it all on her own, so yeah, it's tough!"

Ethan seemed to get triggered. He slammed his spoon down, his little face frowning. "It's all that jerk's fault. He ditched Mom and made her go through so much!"

Michael nodded in agreement. He felt bad for the kids and admired Sarah even more. She was a real trooper.

"Let's not talk about this. Dig in, there's more in the pot."

Harper got soup on her face again.

"Harper, you got food on your face again," Ethan glanced at Harper and shook his head. "We're out of napkins. Hang tight, I'll grab some."

Ethan slid off his chair and went to the kitchen. Just then, the doorbell rang.

Harper was too into her food to move, so Michael put down his utensils and got up to answer the door, muttering, "I didn't order any takeout."

Michael opened the door and was stunned to see two men standing outside.

One of them he recognized; wasn't it the guy from yesterday's news, Antonio!

How did he find this place?

Sitting at the dining table, Harper noticed Michael hadn't returned and thought more food had arrived. Curious, she leaped off her chair and dashed out to see and asked, "Is it something tasty?"

But when she saw the cold, scary face outside the door, Harper's eyes widened in disbelief.

Antonio found her!

Oh no!

Antonio caught sight of Harper, his eyes narrowing instantly.

She was indeed here!

He ignored the stunned Michael in front of him and stepped inside, heading straight for Harper.

Michael snapped back to reality, noticing Antonio moving in to grab Harper. He quickly stepped in the way, blocking his path.

"What do you want? This is my house!"

Antonio's sharp gaze shifted to Michael, asking, "Who are you? And what's your deal with this girl?"

As he spoke, he sized Michael up, his eyes full of curiosity.

Michael looked about twenty, with a youthful appearance, wearing an apron. What was his deal with Harper?

Michael was forced back a step by Antonio's intense vibe, but he didn't forget his mission: he had to protect the kids!

So he puffed out his chest and stared Antonio down. "Yeah, I'm her guardian!"

"Guardian?" Antonio repeated, his eyes getting even darker. "If you're her guardian, you should know what she's done. Move aside!"

Antonio effortlessly shoved Michael away and marched toward Harper.

"Big bad guy, don't come any closer!" Harper bolted into the living room, shaking like a leaf.

Michael was stunned and quickly rushed over to shield Harper, yelling at Antonio, "You're trespassing! Get out now, or I'll call the cops!"

But Michael's threat only got a cold laugh from Antonio. "Call the cops? Go ahead. I want them to deal with the person who defamed me, and the one behind it won't get away either."

Hearing Antonio's words, Harper started trembling even more. Hiding behind Michael, her sweaty fists clenched tight.

Antonio was terrifying. Harper missed Sarah so much!

Michael also freaked out hearing this. He knew if Antonio really called the cops, Harper would be in big trouble.

And then, he'd have to contact their parents. If the truth came out, Sarah would be mad at Harper, and Brian would definitely blame him for not handling things right.

The more he thought about it, the more determined he became to protect Harper. He couldn't let her be taken away. Michael gritted his teeth and decided to take the fall. "I'm her brother! Actually, I'm the one who told her to mess up the wedding. If you have any issues, come at me. Don't hurt the kid!"

Michael got more worked up as he spoke. At that moment, he felt like a hero, a strong sense of heroism burning inside him. He raised his voice and continued, "We're all adults here. Let's not drag a kid into this. Mr. Valencia, you wouldn't be so petty as to hold a grudge against a child, right? Let's go outside and talk."

Meanwhile, Ethan came back with the napkins and heard the ruckus at the door. He quickly hid behind the wall to eavesdrop. Realizing Antonio was here, he was shocked and had no choice but to hide and watch. After all, Antonio had never confronted him directly and didn't know he existed.

Antonio listened to Michael's long speech, growing more impatient by the second.

His gut told him they weren't siblings.

He coldly cut Michael off, "If that's the case, then tell me, why did you do it?"

He didn't buy it. He had no connection with this Michael, no reason for him to target him. There had to be someone else behind this!

Unexpectedly, Michael put on a brave and fearless front, "I'm doing a good deed, avenging the women you've hurt!"

Antonio was taken aback, the women he had hurt.

Instinctively, he thought of Sarah and blurted out her name, "Is it Sarah?"
