Chapter 752 Come Back to Get Married
Hearing that, Harper and Ethan jumped up, shouting, "Yay, Dad's back!"
Ryan, trying to stay cool, couldn't hide his feelings either. "Dad!"
Antonio's eyes teared up. "I'm here!"
Brian, who'd been quiet, smiled at the scene.
Sofia and Alex, watching from the side, both looked relieved.
The family was finally back together.
With Benjamin back, it was time to head out.
Sofia mouthed to Alex, "Let's go."
Alex smiled, took her hand, and they left.
The family chatted a bit more. Antonio, worried Sarah might be tired, suggested she rest.
After hanging up, he picked up Harper, saying, "How about I put you to bed later?"
"Dad! You can just put Harper to bed!" Ethan said, "Ryan, Brian, and I are grown-ups now; we can sleep on our own!"
Antonio chuckled, "Really? You are so awesome now."
Ryan and Ethan said together, "Of course!"
Brian, thinking his siblings were being childish, went upstairs alone.
Now that Antonio and Sarah had made up, he felt at ease.
Antonio exchanged a look with Brian and kept enjoying the moment with his kids.
"Yes, my sons have grown up!" Antonio said, "How about we play a bit before bed?"
"Sure!" They hadn't played with Antonio in ages!
In the playroom, Antonio pulled out a Sudoku game. "Let's play this!"
It was their favorite game from before.
As always, he didn't give them the answers but guided them, letting them feel the joy of solving it.
The three kids exchanged glances and giggled.
'Mr. Harrington is just like our dad Antonio!' they thought.
Meanwhile, after leaving the villa, Sofia and Alex were supposed to head back together, but Alex got an urgent work call.
Sofia, being considerate, said, "It's okay. I'll drive home first."
Alex checked his watch and said, "Be careful on the road. Call me when you get home."
Sofia nodded and got in the car.
She was in a good mood. Sarah's family was reunited, and she wouldn't be separated from Benjamin and the kids anymore.
Even though Benjamin was a bit odd, since Sarah had decided, she was okay with it.
After all they've been through, Sarah wouldn't be easily fooled.
But Sofia wondered when her own life would get better.
After pretending to be strong for so long, she finally let her guard down in the car. Sofia opened the window, letting the wind mess up her hair.
At that moment, her phone rang.
Seeing "Mom" on the screen made her feel suffocated.
Sofia slammed on the gas, the car shot forward, and she braked hard when the speed peaked, the tires screeching.
She pulled over, gasping for air.
When the phone rang for the third time, she forced herself to calm down and answered, "Mom."
"Sofia, you still remember I'm your mother, huh!"
From the other end, Susan Garcia's sharp voice came through, almost raging. "The family is falling apart! Are you really not planning to come back and do something?"
Sofia took a deep breath and stayed quiet for a bit before saying, "Alright, what do you want me to do?"
The bankruptcy hit out of nowhere, and Sofia never imagined her family would be in such deep trouble. Even their villa got auctioned off.
She'd been keeping it all in, not telling anyone.
But she knew she couldn't hide it from Alex forever.
Once, when Alex was in the shower, she called home and broke down crying.
Alex asked what was wrong, and she brushed it off.
Though he didn't push, she saw the suspicion in his eyes.
Staying at Sarah's place with Alex these days, she was even more scared he'd find out, so she blocked her family's number.
Susan didn't expect Sofia to snap back, and after a moment of shock, her anger flared up even more.
Susan yelled, "You really have no heart! You don't care about us at all! You're such an ungrateful daughter!"
Sofia listened to the ranting and crying, feeling a headache coming on.
She irritably grabbed her hair and banged her head on the steering wheel.
Sofia shot back, "No heart? When I came to the city, didn't you say you were cutting ties with me? Now that there's trouble, you remember me! I didn't say I wouldn't help, but you need to come up with a plan! What's the use of yelling at me every day?"
"I told you the plan! You just won't do it! Aren't you good friends with Sarah?" Susan's voice was almost hysterical. "Sarah's loaded now, running two big companies. Why can't you get her to help? If she won't even help with this, what kind of friend is she?"
Hearing that, Sofia laughed bitterly, tears finally streaming down.
"You know that's a ton of money!"
Besides, Sarah was pregnant now; how could she bother her with family issues?
Sofia knew better than anyone that the Harris family probably wouldn't make it this time.
Even if Sarah agreed to help, it wouldn't really solve anything.
But as a Harris, even knowing the outcome, she couldn't just stand by.
Susan, hearing this, started cursing again, using every harsh word she could think of on Sofia.
Sofia didn't stop her and took it all.
Unknowingly, in the end, both were crying.
Susan pleaded, "Sofia, you're all I have left. You must save your father."
Then she added, "If you don't want to ask Sarah for help, come back. Virgil from the Newman family said he'd help, but you have to talk to him yourself. Come back, please. Beg him. You were engaged before, remember?"
Susan's voice was almost pleading while Sofia was nearly choking on her tears.
She covered her mouth, using all her strength to suppress her overwhelming emotions.
"I...I promise you." Sofia's voice was filled with despair.
But what else could she do? It had come to this; could she just ignore her family?
After hanging up, Sofia felt even worse, lowering her head and crying her heart out.
After a long time, she felt a bit better, and Alex's call came through.
Sofia looked at the ringing phone, her heart filled with panic.
She didn't know how to explain to Alex that she was going back to her hometown.
The phone on the passenger seat kept ringing. Sofia composed herself for a while, forced a smile, and answered, "Hello."
"Are you home?"
Alex's gentle voice almost made Sofia cry again.
