Chapter 373 Do I Owe You?
"Well, you should rest well. We'll go back to the ward first," Sarah said.
Serene wiped the tears at the corner of her eye away. "Alright then, you two should also go back and rest. A concussion is not a minor illness; you must take care."
Sarah nodded and pushed Antonio back to the ward.
Watching their figures disappear, Serene's lips curved into a smile. 'The future is still long. Let's wait and see!'
In the ward…Sarah and Antonio had rather gloomy expressions.
The atmosphere grew quiet, making Antonio feel uncomfortable. Already in conflict with Sarah, the incident involving Serene heightened his unease.
Seeing the food still on the bedside table, Antonio raised his eyes and glanced at Sarah. "Sarah, I haven't eaten yet."
Sarah was already feeling annoyed, and seeing the food on the bedside table made her even more displeased.
Sarah pushed Antonio's wheelchair to the side. "Can't you eat on your own if you haven't eaten?"
"Sarah, I'm injured and don't have the strength in my hands."
Antonio noticed that Sarah cared more about Serene's situation. He was both covertly delighted and anxious.
He was delighted because he knew if Sarah still cared, it meant she still cared about him. Yet, he was anxious because their relationship had only just begun to ease a little, and it couldn't end just because of Serene.
"Will you feed me?" Antonio tugged at Sarah's finger, his words and actions filled with helplessness.
Sarah raised an eyebrow. "Can't you eat without someone feeding you?
Besides, someone just fed you. Why didn't you eat then? Weren't you enjoying it? Now you're acting pitiful in front of me? Don't you think it's a little too late?"
Antonio was taken aback. When did someone feed him? Thinking back carefully, he instantly understood.
Antonio stopped pretending at that moment. He stood up and coaxed Sarah. "Sarah, I swear I didn't let Serene take care of me. She came on her own. When I opened my eyes this morning, she was already by my side. You know her. No matter what I said, she wouldn't leave."
Sarah's face turned cold as she turned away from Antonio. "When she was feeding you, I didn't see you pushing her away."
"Didn't you leave? If you had stayed for just one more second, you could have seen me pushing her away." Antonio hugged Sarah's waist. "Don’t you believe me? I swear to God, if I'm lying, let me get hit by a car right now—"
"Shut your mouth." Sarah angrily slapped Antonio's mouth. "You just had a car accident yesterday and want to experience it again today? You better think before you speak!"
Antonio chuckled, "I'm not afraid because I only speak the truth."
Sarah felt a knot in her heart. Since the incident with Asa, they had been at odds with each other, neither giving in to the other.
Even now, while they were in the hospital, they couldn't escape the question of who believed or didn't believe.
Sarah sighed heavily, looking at Antonio's pleasing and pitiful appearance. Eventually, her heart softened.
Truth be told, Sarah still cared deeply for Antonio.
During the flight, Sarah had already decided not to pursue whether things were possible or not.
When she rushed to the hospital and beheld the sight she dreaded most, her anxiety morphed into seething anger, obliterating her worries entirely. Had it not been for the courageous intervention of the driver, Sarah would have likely been on a flight home by now.
Now, her heart couldn't stay hardened.
Sarah picked up a bowl of rice. "Alright, sit down and behave. I'll feed you."
Antonio quickly sat on the bed, waiting for Sarah to feed him.
"Just eat. Stop staring at me," Sarah lovingly mixed the vegetables into the rice, spooning a small bite into Antonio's mouth.
Antonio hadn't enjoyed such a delicious meal in days. Even though it lacked any trace of oil, he found it more flavorful than ever before.
"Wife, don't be angry anymore. I really didn't let anyone else take care of me, only you," Antonio smiled. In front of Sarah, he was like a lion that had completely let down its guard, allowing his loved one to play with him.
Sarah playfully nudged the rice. "Do I owe you something?"
