Chapter 45 The Bad Dad Pick Him Up Again
So, just like that, they rolled up to the zoo.
The Silvercrest Zoo? Yeah, it's pretty huge. It was the weekend, the weather was perfect, and naturally, it was packed with people.
Antonio, who almost never ditched his suit, was rocking some casual threads today.
He still looked sharp, in a white shirt and black pants, with a pair of sleek black sunglasses, but in a more laid-back, handsome way.
He held Ryan's tiny hand and patiently reminded him, "Too many people here. Stay close, or Dad won't find you, okay?"
"I know!" Ryan's usually pale little face finally had some color, probably from all the excitement.
Ethan, trailing behind them, couldn't help but snort at their convo. 'Who wears a suit to have fun? With that getup, he'd be hard to miss!' he wondered.
When Antonio turned around, he caught the disdainful look on 'Harper's' face.
His gaze naturally shifted to Sarah. She had ditched her "work clothes" for a simple white top and jeans. In the sunlight, her skin looked even more radiant, and her eyes sparkled.
Antonio got lost in thought for a sec, his eyes flickering behind his shades. "Keep an eye on Harper and stick with us. Don't get lost."
"I know, Mr. Valencia," Sarah said, but she couldn't help but mentally roll her eyes. Of course, she'd take good care of Ethan!
Antonio was still worried about Ryan!
They hit up the "Rainforest Zone" first. They hopped on a special tour vehicle, with Antonio and Ryan in the front row, and Sarah and Ethan in the back.
Ethan was checking out the animals through the window, feeling a bit excited inside but trying to play it cool.
Meanwhile, Ryan's eyes were lit up with excitement, and his usually tired little face finally had the smile of a kid his age.
He clung to the protective net on the window, looking outside and firing off questions non-stop.
"Daddy, look, what's that? Daddy, why does that one have horns on its head?"
Antonio answered all of Ryan's endless questions with patience.
Ethan, sitting behind, felt kinda helpless.
Ryan noticed Ethan's expression and asked, "Daddy, the rhino's mouth is so big. Why aren't the birds scared of it? They keep pecking at it, and the rhino doesn't seem mad. What's up with that?"
Hearing this, Ethan finally couldn't hold back and said, "Those birds are oxpeckers. They're not pecking the rhino; they're actually helping it by eating the bugs on its body."
After Ethan finished, he saw Ryan turn his head, looking at him with pure admiration.
Feeling a weird sense of superiority, Ethan kept explaining with his little chin up, "In simple words, it's like teamwork. The oxpeckers eat the bugs off the rhino and warn it when there's danger because rhinos have bad eyesight and can't see well."
Ryan was already wide-eyed and slack-jawed, only managing to make sounds of amazement.
Ethan, still trying to act cool, didn't even look at him.
Sarah looked at Ethan with pride, thinking, 'You're amazing! You know so much for your age. You're a little genius!'
Antonio also noticed 'Harper' again, his eyes filled with admiration.
For a kid so young to know so much was pretty rare.
The tour vehicle reached the end, and they got off to keep exploring.
Antonio held Ryan's hand as they walked ahead. Seeing Ryan so lively and cheerful lightened his mood.
Antonio occasionally looked back. If they hadn't caught up, he'd stop for a bit.
Once they caught up, he'd keep walking.
Soon, they started drawing attention. Antonio was ridiculously handsome, and Sarah was beautiful and elegant, looking more like a college student than a mom.
The Ethan she held was very delicate, with a little face that had an inexplicable sense of humor.
Ryan also looked good. Although he was slightly less striking than Ethan, he was extremely cute.
They had become the center of attention.
Antonio didn't care about the stares at all. He listened to Ryan seriously, occasionally showing a gentle and loving smile, which made many women swoon.
Antonio didn't care, but Sarah showed disdain.
'Those women only saw Antonio's handsome face, not knowing that beneath that exterior was a rotten heart!'
'He was the worst, most ruthless man Ihad ever met!'
Ryan's excited shout interrupted Sarah's thoughts.
Seeing him run off to look at the raccoons, Sarah gently tugged Ethan's hand, saying, "Let's go. Don't you love raccoons the most?"
Ethan seemed uninterested on the surface today, but she could still see from his eyes that he was actually quite happy.
Ethan came to the railing, but the visitors in front of him were like a wall, blocking his view completely.
He felt a bit anxious but didn't say anything, just stood on tiptoe, craning his neck to look inside.
At that moment, a pair of strong hands lifted him by the waist, and the next second, he was suddenly higher up!
Ethan's feet left the ground, and he gasped in shock!
He turned his head in terror, only to see Antonio's face very close. He realized belatedly that he was being held by Antonio!
"Can you see now?" When Antonio spoke, Ethan could feel the vibration in his chest, and his heart started pounding.
Antonio had picked him up again!
