Chapter 257 You Get in Trouble, We Become Orphans
On the side, Harper watched Ethan's nonchalant reaction when he pricked his finger on his father's body and couldn't help but chuckle to herself.
'It seems like Ethan does care about Daddy a little bit now.'
Antonio stood by Sarah's side, holding Ethan with one hand and pulling Harper with the other, declaring his dominance with their whole family in tow.
"What are you saying?" Sarah directly picked up Harper and smiled at Antonio. "It's nothing. Just that we're going home."
Richard hesitated for a moment, uncertain whether to offer the specialty dried fish or take it back.
Harper approached him. "May I have a taste?"
Richard quickly handed her the dried fish. "We caught and sun-dried these ourselves, without any additives. It's perfectly safe."
Watching his little sister's behavior, Ethan hurried over. "No eating random things."
Harper was a little foodie who got excited whenever there was something delicious. After taking a bite, her eyes lit up and she waved the dried fish around, full of excitement.
"Mommy, this is so delicious! I've never had such tasty dried fish outside!"
As she spoke, she took another bite, tilted her head in confusion, and looked at Richard. "Sir, your dried fish is so tasty. Why don't you sell them? People outside would definitely love it!"
She then asked Ethan, "Ethan, don't you think so?"
Ethan nodded in agreement. "Indeed, it tastes better than what's sold outside. But can you eat a little less? Your stomach isn't good."
Harper scoffed and immediately ran to Richard. "Sir, how about you come with us? My dad is really capable, and you can do business together with him. Then you can sell all these delicious things from your island to people all over the world. That way, all the kids can enjoy these delicious treats like me!"
Richard chuckled and patted her head. "The sea is dangerous, and sailing is risky. That's why we have rules here, and our ancestors have never left."
Harper instantly showed a look of regret.
Watching his daughter's closeness to Richard, Antonio became a little displeased. He stepped forward and pulled Harper back into his arms, saying lightly, "Nowadays, there are airplanes, right?"
"What?" Richard didn't understand for a moment.
Antonio continued calmly, "Being trapped here for a lifetime, watching this limited sky and the sea in front of us, is meaningless. The world outside is vast, with abundant opportunities."
Sarah also nodded earnestly. She was grateful for the care the villagers had given them during this time. Naturally, she also wanted the people here to live a prosperous life, which would be a form of repayment.
Richard's gaze wavered, clearly considering the proposition.
"I... I need to think about it some more."
Antonio nodded. "Mm, take your time and let me know. You only have one chance."
Sarah was actually surprised. She knew Antonio hated the idea of others having feelings for her, but she didn't expect him to personally say such words to Richard. Indeed, she had underestimated this man before. He wasn't narrow-minded and obsessed with love; he had depth and breadth.
She just didn't quite understand why he could accept Richard but not Asa.
Sarah lowered her gaze. The name Asa was a taboo between them, and naturally, Sarah wouldn't ask further.
After a moment, Sarah moved closer to Antonio, linking arms with him and wearing an apologetic smile. She had been too small-minded. She knew the man she set her eyes on couldn't be so lousy!
At that moment, Harper jumped up happily, "Great! Now I'll have an endless supply of small fish snacks."
"Always about eating. Are you a pig?" Ethan looked at his lively little sister with a hint of disdain.
Harper didn't back down either and snorted. "Don't take your frustration out on me just because Daddy didn't tell you how he was injured."
"Who's frustrated?" Ethan immediately retorted, then glanced at Antonio and turned his back, saying, "Say it if you want. I don't care at all!"
Antonio finally realized a little late that Ethan had actually been concerned about him. He reached out and ruffled Ethan's small head, but the latter simply dodged his hand to show he didn't care about this heartless fellow.
Sarah stepped forward and looked seriously at her precious son. "If you care, express it properly. Otherwise, others won't feel your intentions."
This was addressed to Ethan, but also meant for Antonio to hear. These two guys were simply the same, and no one should say anything about the other.
Pouting, Ethan changed the subject, "Mommy, when are we going back?"
"Tomorrow. Mommy will take you to have fun here tonight."
Ethan nodded. "Mommy, Brian said this matter is very serious. We sent you so many messages, but you didn't reply. The three of us were really worried about you, you know?"
Sarah felt a pang of guilt and whispered, "I didn't mean to. My phone got damaged when it got soaked in water."
"Brian said you have to remember that you're our only support. If something happens to you, we'll be orphans!"
