Chapter 823 Make Her Cry and Beg for Mercy!

Virgil lifted his hand and gently brushed her nose again, understandingly saying, "Then go to bed early tonight, get plenty of rest, and be my most beautiful bride tomorrow."

"Okay, goodnight." She said this, then turned and went into the room.

Virgil stood there for a while, his deep gaze fixed on the closed door in front of him, as if he could see Sofia's relieved expression inside.

He raised the corner of his mouth in a mocking smile, his expression inscrutable.

Long before he decided to marry Sofia, Virgil had investigated everything about her in Capital City.

He knew she had a boyfriend.

The investigator had even said that their relationship seemed very good, and Sofia had done many things for Alex that were beneath her status.

'So what if they have feelings? What qualifications does Alex have to be compared with me?' Virgil thought.

When the Harris family was in trouble, all he had to do was crook his finger, and the once high-and-mighty Sofia came to him to curry favor!

Once tomorrow's wedding was done, Sofia would have no reason to refuse him anymore.

He would make her cry and beg for mercy in bed.

The next day, at the famous Grand Horizon International Hotel.

The wedding between the Harris family and the Newman family caused quite a stir in the entire circle, and those invited to the wedding arrived early at the venue, afraid of missing any exciting stories.

The venue was personally designed by a top designer, and decorated splendidly, with complementary decorations that made people feel as if they were in a starry blue river, with a sea of light blue flowers filling the entire venue.

Pamela and Susan were outside greeting guests, feeling very proud upon hearing everyone's compliments.

"Mrs. Newman, you're so lucky to have found such a good wife for your son. The relationship between the two families is even closer now."

"Yes, and today's wedding is so beautifully arranged. Ms. Harris is really fortunate to have elders like you!"

"This wedding must have cost a lot of money, right?"

There were many compliments, and Susan and Pamela couldn't stop smiling. "As long as the two kids are happy and their marriage is blissful, it's worth spending any amount of money as elders."

These words brought another round of flattery.

The soothing music in the front hall and the harmonious atmosphere complemented each other, but when the cheerful air from the corridor reached the quiet backstage, it felt somewhat out of place.

Sofia sat in front of the makeup mirror, letting the makeup artist apply makeup to her face.

She hadn't spoken a word, as quiet as a mannequin.

Her hands, resting on her wedding dress, were tightly clenched together, her nails digging into her palms without her noticing.

'Am I really getting married like this?' She thought.

Sofia felt unprecedentedly nervous, an indescribable panic gnawing at her heart like ants, making her very uncomfortable.

But she knew that only if today's wedding proceeded would the Newman family transfer the remaining balance to the company's account, her parents would be satisfied, and everyone would be happy, except for her.

Sofia tugged at the corner of her mouth, looking up at herself in the mirror, as if she were looking at another person.

In the front hall, Sarah and Antonio, as honored guests of today's wedding, were personally picked up by a luxury car arranged by the Newman family and seated in the VIP section upon arrival at the hotel.

She had originally wanted to go backstage to see Sofia, but now she had no chance and could only sit there.

"Why hasn't Alex arrived yet?"

"Do you think he'll come?"

"Is he not coming?"

"Can he do it or not?"

Within ten minutes, Sarah had asked this question several times.

She was extremely nervous, glancing at the entrance from time to time.

Antonio comforted her helplessly, "Sarah, the wedding hasn't started yet. Don't worry."

"How can I not worry?" She was almost going crazy with anxiety! "No, if Alex hasn't shown up by the time they exchange rings, you have to pretend to faint as we discussed yesterday. We can't let the wedding proceed."

Antonio nodded with a wry smile, "Got it, I'll follow your instructions."

He was so calm now because he genuinely believed that Alex would come.

If Alex truly loved Sofia, how could he just watch Sofia marry Virgil?

Unless he and Sarah had both misjudged Alex's feelings for Sofia.

Before long, the emcee, dressed in a suit, took the stage and, after a round of pleasantries, announced the official start of the wedding.

The melodious music spread far and wide, and the first to speak was the groom, Virgil. To Sarah, everything he said was hypocritical.

She didn't listen at all, just kept her eyes on the entrance, until Sofia was brought out.

The path paved with petals extended all the way to her, Sofia in a dazzling white wedding dress, her veil covering her face, her delicate features faintly visible.

Sofia was the most beautiful bride.

But the person standing opposite her was not her beloved Alex.

Sarah felt a pang of bitterness, too lazy to listen to the surrounding chatter. She took out her phone from her handbag and said, "No, I have to call Alex."

If he didn't come soon, Sofia would marry someone else.

But the call she made was still unanswered.

"What should we do?" Sarah was almost frantic with worry, and at this moment, Virgil on stage was already leading Sofia towards the emcee. She quickly grabbed Antonio's arm, "Get ready! Prepare to faint!"

Antonio glanced at the time; it was three minutes to noon.

Soon, it was time for the most important part. The spotlights around focused almost entirely on Virgil and Sofia in the center. Sofia's dazzling wedding dress seemed to be coated with a layer of radiant light.

Standing on stage, her heart was pounding, her palms sweaty.

Virgil's expression was gentle, holding her hand as if to comfort her, but his deep eyes held a hint of indifference.

The emcee said a lot of meaningless words, his gaze slowly shifting to Sofia's face, and began, "Sofia, do you take..."

Just as he started, another voice interrupted from outside the door.

"She doesn't!"

Everyone was shocked and turned to look.

At the entrance stood Alex, backlit, his tall figure appearing as if he had descended from the heavens, his imposing presence growing stronger with each step.

Sofia's heart pounded, staring at him in a daze until Alex's familiar face became clear.

She forgot to breathe, forgot everything, her eyes only on Alex, the man she had abandoned, who had suddenly appeared as if to save her.

The guests looked at each other, and after a moment of silence, they began to whisper, "Is this a wedding crash?"

It seemed today's wedding couldn't proceed normally; this was big news in Luminara!

Before Virgil could react, his hand was pulled away by Alex.

Alex's eyes were bloodshot, his tired and weathered face still strikingly handsome.

He tightly embraced Sofia, the familiar scent and warmth seeming to flow into his veins, bringing him back to life. "Sofia, please don't marry someone else, okay?"
