Chapter 714 Forgot About Antonio?
Sarah's breathing was all over the place. With her eyes wide open, she could see the mess of scars on Antonio's body. His chest and back were a roadmap of pain, with that gnarly wound on his shoulder stealing the show.
'How much pain did he go through?' she wondered.
She thought about the explosion and how Antonio had jumped in to save her without a second thought. Her heart felt like it was being squeezed.
After the blast, he fell into the sea. If it wasn't for his sheer willpower, would he have made it?
Thinking about all this, Sarah's eyes got all misty, and her hands started to shake.
Noticing her distress, he slowed down and whispered, "Sarah."
Seeing the tears in her eyes, he freaked out, forgetting his own pain. He awkwardly tried to wipe her tears away.
"Don't cry. What's wrong? Did I scare you? It's my fault, I was too hasty. Please don't cry. I won't touch you anymore, okay? I'll check the room for any issues and then leave. You don't have to be afraid of me."
Sarah saw the raw worry on his face, mixed with a hint of heartache.
'Is he heartbroken because of me? But why?' she thought.
Antonio loved her, Sarah knew that and had never doubted it.
She just couldn't wrap her head around why he let her think he was dead, then let her mistake him for someone else. Why didn't he just come clean? Why didn't he reunite with her?
If he really loved her, wouldn't that have been torture for him too?
And now, Sarah was staring that pain right in the face.
He had been hurting just as much as she had all this time.
In that moment, Sarah felt a rush of emotion.
She was so tired, tired of holding on alone for so long.
Antonio, the only man she had ever loved, was still alive.
There was nothing better than that.
In her darkest moments, Sarah had prayed that as long as he was alive, she could handle anything.
So now, Sarah stood on her tiptoes and kissed his scars, from his chest to his shoulder, bit by bit.
Seeing her do this, Antonio couldn't help but say, "Sarah."
Antonio trembled all over, and all his self-control crumbled in that moment.
His eyes darkened, and he suddenly scooped Sarah up in his arms.
Sarah instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, meeting his intense gaze, her eyes reflecting the flickering light.
The room was bathed in a warm glow, not too bright, giving off a cozy vibe. Antonio carefully laid her on the bed, their heartbeats syncing as he leaned over.
He kissed her gently, his breath hot and heavy.
Antonio was already dazed, not understanding why Sarah had suddenly changed.
He asked, his breath shaky, "Sarah, is it really okay?"
Sarah was a bit nervous, but she had to admit she wanted it, wanted him, and wanted everything about him.
She didn't speak, just tightened her grip on Antonio's arm slightly.
This silent consent almost made Antonio lose his mind.
He trembled as he gently brushed her hair away from her temples, kissing her features inch by inch, like she was some kind of precious gem.
Sarah's passion was lit up by him, leaving her feeling a bit impatient and making some weird noises without meaning to. She snapped, "Can you hurry up!"
Antonio chuckled softly, his eyes full of affection. "Okay."
He kissed her, and then suddenly sank down.
Sarah's reflexive groan was swallowed by him, and she gradually lost herself in the act of love.
The long-lost intimacy made both of them a bit addicted. They carefully avoided her belly, stopping only when they were both satisfied.
Afterwards, Sarah was so wiped out that she fell asleep. Antonio patiently cleaned her up, lying quietly beside her, not feeling bored at all.
Everything that happened today was unexpected. His feelings were all over the place, feeling both completely fulfilled and somewhat out of sorts.
Although being close to Sarah was something Antonio had longed for, he couldn't help but feel a bit of inexplicable disappointment.
Now, in Sarah's eyes, he was Benjamin, the heir to the Harrington Group. Yet, in such a clear-headed state, she was willing to make love with him.
'Has she really let go of the past? Has she forgotten me?' he thought.
Thinking of this possibility, Antonio felt both aggrieved and sour, unable to find an outlet for a long time.
He sighed deeply, glanced at the sleeping Sarah beside him, and gently got up. He found a cigarette and lighter from his luggage and walked to the balcony.
Antonio didn't usually smoke; he only lit up when he was super stressed.
As the night deepened, the whole city fell into a tranquil silence. The distant lights were dazzling, adding to his thoughts.
He wondered when he could return to the home he shared with Sarah.
Unconsciously, the cigarette had burned to the end.
The burning in his fingertips felt like it was hitting his heart. Antonio instinctively let go, crushing the cigarette butt under his foot as it hit the ground.
He lit another cigarette, took a puff, and then casually rested it on the balcony. The rising smoke made his features even more distinct.
After a long time, his phone suddenly rang in his pocket.
He took it out, glanced at it, and answered, putting it to his ear.
It was Otis Patterson, the new assistant Antonio had found after regaining his memory.
Otis was very reliable and had a clean record.
Through the phone, Otis reported, "Mr. Harrington, as per your request, we have found a suitable candidate who can be arranged to be by your side at any time."
Before Antonio went abroad, he had made arrangements to find someone to pose as his former girlfriend and put on a "search for love" show for Harold.
Given the suddenly appeared Margret, Antonio found it unnecessary to do so.
He said, "No need. I've already got someone."
Otis responded with a yes. "Is there anything else you need me to do?"
Antonio paused and said, "Yeah."
