Chapter 439 Do You Feel Sorry for Him?

When Antonio and Sarah arrived at Victor's residence in Country T with Brian, it was already empty.

"He ran pretty fast."

Brian surveyed the chaotic scene within the house, noting the scattered money left behind in the rush to escape.

It was evident that Victor had just left not long ago.

Antonio crouched down and picked up the scattered casino chips on the floor. "How long has he been gone?"

The hotel staff hurriedly replied, "He left two hours ago in a hurry, without even collecting the deposit.

"I found it strange at the time. This guy never does anything except gamble and find women. He's even stingy to the extreme, refusing to give even a tip. How could he leave without even taking the deposit?

"If I had known that Mr. Valencia was coming to find someone, I would've made sure to stop him."

This hotel was renowned in Country T, and the owner was from their home country and well aware of Antonio's status.

Antonio furrowed his brows.

Two hours passed—it was precisely the same time as their landing. They had just arrived, yet Victor had already fled in a rush. This recurrence mirrored their previous experience, indicating it was no coincidence.

Sarah also sensed something was off. Their trip to Country T was impromptu, so no one there should have known in advance.

If Victor truly had a backer, how did he know their whereabouts?

"Seal off the entire area immediately and conduct a thorough search. We must find Victor's whereabouts," Antonio and Brian ordered at the same time, closing off the entire area.

"I refuse to believe that even under these circumstances, we can't find any trace of him." Brian kicked away the scattered chips at his feet.

"It's getting late. Let's rest for today and leave the search to them." Antonio patted Sarah's shoulder.

Sarah could only nod her head as she couldn't be of any help in this matter. All she could do was wait quietly for news.

At the same time, her mind was filled with numerous questions, but she couldn't make sense of them for the time being.

Victor was staying at the finest hotel in the area, where Antonio had also reserved a room. However, even the top suite didn't match up to the cozy charm of certain smaller hotels back home. Consequently, only two rooms were available.

"Sarah, you sleep in the master bedroom with our son. I'll stay in the smaller room."

Antonio looked around and thought, 'There's no need to call out; the soundproofing in this room isn't that good.'

Sarah was feeling a bit conflicted.

She nodded and took Brian back to their room after freshening up. The bed was decent, quite a spacious double bed.

However, Antonio didn't feel comfortable at all.

Even though he had grown up in the Valencia family, Lucien had never treated him well, but at least he had never lived in such a dirty and messy environment.

Even the bed he slept on when he was being chased and hiding on a small island was much better than this creaky little bed.

Antonio couldn't even roll over without being annoyed by the sound, and with an abundance of bugs in the area, mosquitoes buzzed around his ears, preventing him from falling asleep. He had never experienced such discomfort before, forcing him to get up in the middle of the night to kill the mosquitoes.

'It is fortunate that Sarah's room is nice,' he thought, finally finding some consolation in his heart after killing a mosquito.

It was good that his wife and child could sleep well after a tiring day.

Inside the master bedroom, Sarah scratched her arm. She had always had a tendency to attract mosquito bites, and coming here only made matters worse.

Brian took out mosquito repellent from his bag. "Mommy, please spray a bit more."

"Okay," Sarah agreed but also heard the sounds coming from the neighboring room. "Your dad won't have a good night's sleep tonight."

Brian pursed his lips. "Mommy, do you feel sorry for him?"

Sarah was stunned for a moment and honestly replied, "Yes, I do."

Brian sat up. "Mommy, I know you two have a good relationship, and I can sense that you really like him."

Upon hearing her son say this, Sarah smiled and hugged him. "He is a person worth liking, that's what I've always thought." Sarah smiled and lightly brushed Brian's nose with her hand. And his personality is especially similar to yours."

Brian's ear turned slightly red. "Yeah, I know."

Sarah didn't say anything but quietly watched her son. She knew he had something to say.

"Through such a long time of interaction, I can also sense his temperament. I admit that I had prejudices against him before, and sometimes I acted unreasonably." Brian lowered his head, feeling more embarrassed as he spoke. "Mommy, was I too much before?"

Sarah reached out to ruffle his hair. "He is your father, and I believe he won't hold grudges against his son. Don't worry."

"I've never blamed you and Ethan."

Hearing Sarah's words, Brian felt somewhat comforted, but his heart was still conflicted. He couldn't quite explain the reason for this conflict.

Suddenly, the thought of Antonio's past stomach illness struck him. He gently tugged at his mother's clothes and whispered, "Mommy, could he sleep here instead? The windows in his room aren't sealed properly. If he can't sleep well, his stomach might hurt again, and it'll be difficult for us to care for him."

Of course, Sarah understood her son's tough exterior and soft interior. She smiled and said, "Alright, we'll do as you say."

She got out of bed and went to knock on the door. "Antonio, if you can't fall asleep, come to this room. The bed is big enough."

Amidst his battle with mosquitoes, Antonio was suddenly greeted by Sarah's voice, as melodious as a symphony. Without hesitation, he slipped on his shoes and hurried towards her.

"Brian, are you going to sleep in the middle of us?" he forced a calm face, but his smile couldn't fade away.

In an instant, Brian felt a twinge of regret, but reality didn't allow him to dwell on it.

Antonio was already stretched out on the bed, his large hands encircling Brian and Sarah in a warm embrace.

"Wife, son, goodnight." Antonio kissed Sarah on the forehead, turned off the bedside lamp, and happily fell asleep.

Sarah smiled secretly and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Only Brian, lying in the middle, remained awake in the darkness...
