Chapter 805 Not Forgiving Dad
Although that was what he said, as soon as he moved, he felt pain all over his body.
The anesthesia had worn off, and the incision hurt like hell. He didn't know how many steps he could take now.
It was said that every surgery took a significant toll on the body.
Given the number of surgeries he had undergone, it would take a hundred years to fully recover.
Thinking of this, Antonio couldn't help but feel very dejected.
Timothy sighed slightly, "With the way you are now, can you catch up to Ms. Miller?"
If he couldn't catch up, what could he do?
"I think the wisest course of action is to take good care of your health first. Otherwise, how can you be sure that when you face Ms. Miller, you won't just make her angrier?" As an outsider, Timothy could see clearly that Sarah's anger stemmed from her concern for Antonio. She had confirmed Antonio's safety before leaving.
What she cared about most was that he was alive and well. What made her most angry was that he didn't take care of his own body.
But Antonio couldn't see that. He took a deep breath, feeling a heavy weight on his heart.
The feeling of urgency and anxiety came rushing in. He grabbed his phone, unlocking it repeatedly, his finger hovering over Sarah's call button, unable to press it.
She was angry right now. What if he accidentally said something wrong and made things worse? What if she really wanted a divorce? She was fully capable of doing that!
Thinking of this, Antonio felt deep regret. If he had known it would lead to this, he would have confessed everything back then.
He could have enjoyed several more months of Sarah's care.
Seeing the look of regret and frustration on his face, Timothy didn't say anything harsh. After confirming that all the indicators were normal, he put away his stethoscope.
"Mr. Valencia, your physical condition is quite good. You should recover soon. What you need to do now is cooperate with the treatment so you have the strength to chase after your wife. Don't you think?" The last sentence had a hint of teasing.
Antonio glanced at him calmly, "How soon can I be discharged?"
"It depends on your recovery."
"Okay." He closed his eyes heavily, "Thank you for this. If you need any help in Capital City, just let me know."
Timothy didn't respond and left the ward.
Antonio lay down, staring at the white ceiling, feeling an emptiness in his heart.
Sarah.
It was good that Sarah went back.
At least she didn't have to see him lying in a hospital bed.
After so many times, she was probably tired of it.
Antonio sighed heavily. The constant pain in his body reminded him that the chip had been removed.
The shameful label of "Harold" had been completely removed from his life.
Timothy was indeed very skilled; the surgery went smoother than expected.
Harold's judgment would come soon, and he would pay for everything he had done.
In the future, no one would disturb their peaceful life again.
Thinking of this, Antonio felt a sense of rebirth, and the fog in his heart gradually cleared.
Now, he had to find a way to get Sarah's forgiveness.
After thinking for a long time, he decided to start with the kids.
The next day, Antonio's voice was less hoarse, and he immediately called home. It was Ethan who answered. "Hello, who is this?"
"Ethan, it's Dad."
There was a pause on the other end, then a faint response, "Oh, Dad, what do you need?"
Antonio was puzzled.
What did that mean? Did the kids not know he had surgery? Maybe Sarah hadn't told them.
But even if they didn't know, their attitude wouldn't be so cold. Shouldn't they be excited?
Antonio frowned and tentatively asked, "Ethan, where's Mommy?"
"Mommy went out." Ethan's clear voice hesitated for a moment before saying, "Dad, do you think a phone call will make Mommy forgive you? Even if you call us, it won't help. Mommy is really angry this time."
After a pause, he added, "We are also very angry!"
Antonio's eyelid twitched, "Why are you angry?"
"Hmph!" Ethan's small hum was enough to express his dissatisfaction. "Of course, because Mommy told us everything about you! You had such a major surgery and kept it from the family. Dad, you are really something ."
Sarah had anticipated that Antonio wouldn't be honest and would try to use the kids, so she had told them everything to teach him a lesson.
Harper chimed in, "Yeah, Dad, isn't that deceiving Mommy and us?"
"Mommy was already worried about you, and you hid the truth, making her even more anxious. Of course, she's angry, and we are too!"
After Harper finished, Ryan hesitated, "Dad. What you did was indeed inappropriate."
"It was very inappropriate!"
Harper corrected him, "Dad, you should be grateful Brian isn't here. Brian would be even angrier! A family should share everything, not deceive each other."
The three kids spoke one after another, and Antonio could almost imagine them huddled on the couch by the phone. He felt a headache coming on, "I didn't do it on purpose. Isn't this called a white lie?"
"A white lie is still a lie!"
"Exactly!"
"Harper is right!"
Antonio fell silent.
After firmly expressing their stance, the three kids also severely criticized his actions, "Dad, you should think about how to make it up to Mommy. We don't need you to make it up to us, but since you did something wrong, we don't want to talk to you for now. That's it, bye!"
Antonio remained silent.
The three kids' voices were firm, and they hung up directly.
So, he was completely alone now.
Antonio looked at his phone with a wry smile, feeling heavy-hearted.
Countless ideas popped into his head, but none seemed feasible.
His only option was to return to Capital City as soon as possible and sincerely apologize to Sarah. Maybe then he would have a chance at forgiveness?
Antonio spent the next few days in this anxious state.
Fortunately, his body was recovering well.
By the fifth day, he could walk normally.
"Although your wound is healing well, you must not be careless. If it reopens and needs to be stitched again, it will be worse than the first time." After examining him, Timothy made notes on the medical record and reminded him, "Remember not to use your left arm."
"Okay." Antonio adjusted his collar and responded casually.
His brows were tightly knit, filled with unresolved worries. Finally, he asked in a low voice, "I feel fine now. Can I be discharged?"
He had been alone in Marshall City for a week without hearing Sarah's voice.
He didn't know how he had managed to get through it.
