Chapter 624 Angry at Sarah
He was a long-term employee in the company, speaking without much restraint.
And when he said that, the people around nodded in agreement. They had enough confidence in their production line, so most of them thought it was intentional.
Sarah's bright eyes flickered slightly, and a familiar and arrogant face flashed quickly in her mind. However, it was just a moment before she dismissed this unfounded matter from her mind.
"Before the matter is investigated thoroughly, let's not jump to conclusions." She advised while she organized the files in her hands, "Go through all the processes again, ensure that every piece of data is accurate, and see if there are any omissions."
The supervisor agreed, "Alright, Ms. Miller."
Coming out of the production department, Sarah handed the files to James.
Sarah instructed, "You go back first. Keep an eye on the online trends. Also, remind the PR department not to be too aggressive; be careful not to backfire."
James understood her meaning, and asked, "What about you?"
"I have to go to Harrington Group." Sarah took out the car keys from her bag. She said, "At least I should know their attitude first. Some things always require face-to-face meetings."
If this matter was indeed a malicious setup, it must be investigated jointly with Harrington Group to determine where the problem lies.
James still had some concerns, and requested, "Can I accompany you?"
"No need." Sarah had already taken a step forward. She then instructed, "You go back and keep an eye on the Valencia family. Our two families have deep ties with one another. Don't let the issues with The Jerrett Group affect the morale of the Valencia family."
James wanted to say something more, but he saw his boss heading towards the parking lot, the slender figure looking somewhat desolate.
He always thought that if Mr. Valencia were still here, Ms. Miller wouldn't have to work so hard.
When Sarah arrived at Harrington Group, the receptionist immediately relayed the message to the CEO's office before smiling, and looking up, asking, "Ms. Miller, is there something I can help you with?"
"Hello." Sarah politely smiled, her fair-skinned face carrying a hint of vulnerability. She answered the receptionist. "I need to communicate with the head of your clothing department. Could you please help me get in touch with them?"
"Do you have an appointment?" The receptionist's eyes flickered slightly, and informed, "If you don't have an appointment, you may have to wait for a while."
"Okay." Sarah glanced at the time, and replied, "Thank you."
The receptionist's smile seemed a bit forced as she raised her hand and said, "Please wait in the lounge for a moment. I will immediately contact our business manager for you."
Sarah, preoccupied with her thoughts, didn't pay much attention to the deeper meaning in her eyes. She just nodded and walked towards the lobby sofa.
Seeing how accommodating she was, the receptionist breathed a sigh of relief.
Upstairs, Benjamin stood by the window with a cup of coffee. His tall figure exuded a hint of smugness, adding a touch of wickedness and wildness to his already handsome face. A hint of anticipation was in his dark eyes.
Since Sarah had already arrived, he wondered what kind of expression she would show when they met later!
She should have shown a vulnerable side by now.
Thinking of Sarah looking tearful in front of him, Benjamin felt an indescribable sense of achievement, a strange feeling.
After all, when she cried, he felt a pang in his heart.
But that feeling was quite wonderful, watching Sarah reveal her vulnerabilities in front of him as if she longed for his sympathy.
If she was truly very sad, he would reluctantly comfort her.
Benjamin had envisioned countless scenarios, but no matter how long he waited, he didn't receive a call from the receptionist or secretary.
She didn't follow his script.
Benjamin vaguely felt that something was off, so he stepped out of the office and asked, "Ms. Miller has arrived. Why hasn't the receptionist connected us?"
Daniel, who had been discussing work with colleagues, turned around hastily, somewhat flustered, at the words, and explained, "Mr. Harrington, because the person Ms. Miller wants to meet is not you."
"What did you say?" Benjamin's face changed suddenly. Thinking he might be hearing things, he asked coldly, "She didn't come to see me for The Jerrett Group's matter; she's not here to see me?!"
"Ms. Miller asked the receptionist to contact the business manager," Daniel felt a cold sweat breaking out, trying to find the right words in his mind as he tried to further explain, "She probably wants to understand the whole situation firsthand, so..."
Benjamin angrily exclaimed, "The business manager?!"
Benjamin's anger was almost uncontrollable, and his voice seemed to freeze the air. He instantly felt that all the scenarios he had rehearsed in the office were just self-indulgent fantasies for blind people!
Benjamin sneered in anger, "If she likes to wait, then let her wait. Pass on my orders, and no one is allowed to see her!"
Daniel knew his boss was furious and didn't dare to say anything.
Daniel complied, "Alright, I got it, Mr. Harrington."
Benjamin was so angry he felt like his blood pressure might surge out of control. Not wanting to say another word, an icy breeze enveloped him as he returned to his office.
There was a loud slam of the door.
Everyone's hearts trembled. Even the walls of the office seemed to shake.
After a strange silence, everyone looked at each other.
They didn't know how Ms. Miller had offended Mr. Harrington.
The current situation suggested that this matter might not be resolved peacefully, and if Mr. Harrington got angry, no one dared say a word more.
At that moment, Sarah had no idea she was about to be deliberately put in a difficult position.
She waited in the lobby for quite a while, and the receptionist approached her with an apologetic expression, "I'm sorry, Ms. Miller."
Sarah's eyelid twitched, sensing something was off, and proceeded to ask, "What's the matter?"
The receptionist suggested, "Our manager is out on an inspection, and we don't know when he'll be back. You see, why don't you come back another day."
"He's out!?" Sarah repeated these words in her mind, vaguely understanding that they were deliberately making her wait. Her smile didn't change, and calmly replied, "It's okay, I have nothing urgent, I'll just wait here."
The receptionist chuckled a couple of times, then said, "Alright then!"
Since the instructions had come from the boss, she didn't feel right saying anything more.
Sarah herself hadn't anticipated that she would end up waiting until the afternoon. The reason she didn't look for Benjamin was because she had truly decided to draw a clear line with him.
She didn't expect Benjamin to be so childish.
It wasn't until six o'clock that Sarah realized she had come here in vain today.
"Ms. Miller, we're about to get off work, would you..." The receptionist, seeing her patience, still felt somewhat embarrassed, "You'd better come back another day. Our manager probably won't be back."
"Okay." Sarah forced a smile, suppressing the disappointment in her heart, and stated, "I'll come back another day then."
As she stood up from the sofa, her body, numb from sitting for so long, swayed slightly, coupled with her slightly swollen belly. It was heart-wrenching to see.
Benjamin also watched this scene in a nearby corner.
He didn't know how to describe his current feelings; he just felt a sharp pain in his eyes at the sight of that slender and lonely figure, and a sense of heartache gradually spread in his heart.
But he was also angry.
Sarah would rather wait so long than actively seek him out.
