Chapter 522 Can She Still Survive?
"If you make a decision within two minutes and press this switch, the person you choose will be safe, and the rope of the other person will break," Serene said.
"But if you haven't made up your mind after two minutes, I'm sorry... both of their ropes will break at the same time, and they will..."
"Snap!"
"They’ll both fall and get smashed to pieces."
Serene deliberately spoke very slowly, emphasizing the "snap" in the middle as she giggled.
The two ropes holding Sarah and Kevin seemed to form a scale; it was as if it were signifying that whoever weighed the most in Antonio's heart would survive while whoever didn’t would slip down and fall to a gruesome death.
Just thinking about it made Serene excited; she felt like she had been shot with adrenaline; her blood was boiling.
Antonio felt his surroundings suddenly quiet down, the only sounds echoing in his ears were Serene's screams and his increasingly heavy heartbeat.
Serene was very satisfied with his reaction, and she smirked, "The countdown begins."
"No!"
Antonio's nearly broken voice had no effect, and Serene quickly pressed the start button in her hand.
A black screen on the tree opposite lit up and a two-minute countdown began.
"Serene!!!"
Antonio's eyes were bloodshot, and he struggled violently to break free.
"Antonio, isn't two minutes enough for you?" Serene looked aggrieved for a moment, then laughed cheerfully again, "Since you have time to struggle, you might as well make a choice quickly, time waits for no one."
After saying that, she turned around, walked to the other side, and sat down.
Antonio’s breathing became heavier and heavier, his heart, which had finally calmed down, was on the verge of collapse again.
The dozen or so bodyguards on both sides were restraining him, so if he wanted to break free from their grasp, he had to win in one fell swoop.
Before Antonio could react, he heard Sarah's whimpering sound.
As time passed, Sarah could feel herself slowly falling. She could even feel that the rope that bound her was slowly breaking apart; the sound of it fraying was mind-shattering.
She looked fearfully at her father.
Kevin's rope was also sliding down; he was in the same situation as her.
What could she do?! Should Antonio really choose?!
Seeing this, Antonio could no longer remain calm. He also saw the ropes above them slowly fraying.
If it continued at that speed...
In less than two minutes, both of their ropes would break, and they would fall to their deaths!
The rage in Antonio's eyes instantly flared up. His gaze pierced through Serene like a sword as he roared, "Serene, you madwoman! You'll get what's coming to you!"
Serene was very satisfied with his reaction, and her smile got even brighter.
Watching them struggle was so interesting.
Everyone had become a pawn in her game.
Sarah, Antonio, and her dear "father."
The malice in Serene's heart spread throughout her body like blood; she felt exhilarated while watching the scene in front of her.
So, what if all the things she did were exposed?
At least now, with the help of that person, they were all at her mercy.
"Time is passing by the second; you better not waste it."
She blinked what she thought were adorable eyes.
Antonio's hands were clenched tightly together, as if he were trying to crush his own bones. His deep-set eyes were icy cold as he gritted his teeth and stared at her intently. His mind was rapidly working, looking for an opportunity.
Serene gazed at him with infatuated eyes, "You look so attractive right now... It's hard not to feel soft-hearted."
"How about this, if you can't make a decision, why don't I help you?" She felt like she had a brilliant idea, "Just divorce Sarah and be with me, then I'll consider letting them both go."
Antonio kept his gaze on her face, understanding perfectly well that this woman would never let Sarah go. Everything she said was just to disgust him.
"You're dreaming!"
Looking at her face now made Antonio feel nauseous; his blood was boiling with anger, "You will pay for everything you've done! I will never let you off!" After speaking, he turned his gaze away from the devilish woman and looked at Sarah, trying to comfort her in a gentle voice.
"Don't be afraid, Sarah... I'll find a way to save you both! Trust me! I'm here... I won't let anything happen to you and Dad!"
When she heard his voice soften, as if he was afraid to frighten Sarah, Serene saw a level of devotion in him she had never seen before.
It made her furious, and she coldly reminded him, "Have you decided? You have less than a minute left."
After hearing Antonio's comforting tone, Sarah couldn't control her tears, which flowed even more fiercely. She couldn't say anything; she could only look at Antonio. The man she had loved, hated, and still couldn't let go of in this life.
If today was her last day, she wanted to tell Antonio that she had lied that day; she had never regretted being with him.
If she died, she still hoped Antonio could live well and take care of their children, her father, and her brother.
But Sarah knew what choice Antonio would make. He would choose her. Sarah asked herself what she would do if the same choice was in front of her. She thought she would also choose Antonio. But...
Sarah looked at Kevin with sorrowful eyes... That was her father!
If Antonio really chose her, what would happen to her dad? They had just recognized each other, and she still had many regrets that had not been made up for. They needed to spend more time together.
The thought of that possibility made Sarah feel as if a huge stone was pressing on her heart; she felt like it would soon be crushed.
If her father had an accident because of her today, how would she live in the future? Could she still...go on living?
