Chapter 530 Targeting Valencia Inc.

The man before her bore an uncanny resemblance to the one she always yearned for, with a 99% match. The only differences were a faint scar at the corner of his eye and a slightly lighter shade in his gaze compared to Antonio's deep, pure black eyes.

Isabella, seeing his silence, called out again, "Benjamin?"

Benjamin Harrington glanced up, grunting indifferently in response.

"I just find it quite coincidental," Isabella said with a generous smile, already accustomed to Benjamin's icy demeanor. "We've only just arrived in the city, and we've run into our target. Could this also be considered fate?"

"Quite fated indeed."

Benjamin's expressionless face glanced in the rearview mirror, already miles away from the accident scene, and the woman was long out of sight.

However, such fate was always a curse, serving as a warning to the woman.

Valencia Inc. was about to change hands.

Benjamin Harrington's mouth twisted in disdain.

Attentive to his expressions, Isabella picked up the documents beside her seat, placed them on her lap, and powered on her tablet. "Uncle Harold has a lot of faith in us, sending us to acquire Valencia Inc. and the Jerretts Group. I doubt it'll be that easy, though."

Uncle Harold was Benjamin Harrington's father, Harold Harrington.

Their mission was clear: to acquire the two companies held by Sarah without mercy or hesitation.

"Already losing our edge before we've even started?"

Benjamin's lips curled, not quite a smile but more a sneer.

His face carried an innate arrogance and confidence, utterly dismissive of any competition. "Managing two companies by herself, she's bound to be stretched too thin, riddled with vulnerabilities."

Recalling the efficient figure of the woman, Isabella shook her head in disagreement.

Though single-handedly managing both companies, Sarah was indisputably competent in the eyes of everyone in the city.

Under her stewardship, both companies had reached new heights, a testament to her exceptional abilities.

Isabella looked down, rifling through the documents in her hands.

"Let me show you the operational status of Valencia Inc. and the Jerretts Group over the past few months."

She extracted some papers, extending them to Benjamin. "You'll be surprised."

Benjamin gave them a cursory glance, not bothering to take them.

"No matter how formidable she was before, everything will come to an end now that I'm here," he declared, his voice devoid of warmth, uninterested in the documents Isabella clutched in her hands. He wore an air of confidence as though he had the world under his thumb.

Isabella cast a sideways glance, catching the arresting profile of the man's prideful yet bewitching face.

He always seemed unshaken, as though nothing could ever stump him.

With a smile, Isabella gathered the papers again. "Here's to smooth sailing," she said.

Benjamin's dark eyes betrayed no emotion, yet they effortlessly communicated superiority, danger, and lethality.

His gaze drifted absently to the window, and his well-defined fingers lifted, brushing over the scar at the corner of his eye—a habitual gesture when he was deep in thought. This meant he wished not to be disturbed.

She averted her gaze, choosing silence.

Benjamin watched the world rush by outside the car window, the quiet of the interior pressing against his ears. Yet, a frown slowly creased his brow.

Since deboarding his flight, a peculiar familiarity with this city nagged at him, with fragments of memories fighting to surface in his mind.

He sensed their importance but found only void upon introspection.

Three months prior, Benjamin had been in a car accident that left him with severe injuries and total amnesia. It took a long stretch in the hospital before he awoke. According to his father and doctors, occasional memory lapses were normal. It would take time to remember everything.

Amnesia felt incredibly unsettling, as if he was devoid of past and future. As if he didn't belong to this world at all.

Since waking up, Benjamin had tried various treatments to recover his memory, all in vain; nothing came back to him.

Feeling alien in his own skin, he responded with an intensified aloofness, an attempt to combat this wholly unfamiliar world.

Fortunately, his intrinsic business acumen hadn't left him. His father entrusted him with the family company's affairs, and Benjamin handled each task flawlessly.

His father was proud, colleagues respected him, and Isabella showed unwavering loyalty. Yet, to Benjamin, it all felt irrelevant. He felt like a mere specter encased in flesh.

His father told him he had been sent abroad as a child and had just returned home this year to take the reins of the family business. That's when discord in the family resulted in his being targeted in a car accident.

Logically, he shouldn't have any recollection of this city, yet something about its air brought a slight peace to his heart.

With these thoughts, Benjamin rolled down the window halfway.

Isabella focused on the tablet's data, yet her peripheral vision stayed constantly attuned to him.

Seeing Benjamin's furrowed brow as he pinched the bridge of his nose, she immediately asked with concern, “Headache again?”

With half-closed eyes, Benjamin grunted heavily in affirmation.

“We should be nearing the hotel.” Isabella glanced ahead, the GPS indicating just a few miles remaining. “You can take a nice shower and rest when we get there.”

After a moment's thought, she scooted closer to him.

“Let me give you a quick massage.” Isabella positioned herself to reach his temples and started to gently rotate her fingers, “Want to lean on me for a bit?”

They were now incredibly close, the intimacy palpable.

A strange scent wafted into his nostrils, the touch on his skin cool and soothing.

It was a fragrance Benjamin had smelled for days but just couldn't get used to.

The discomfort between his brows intensified, yet he didn't push her away. After all, she was his fiancée of many years, even if he had completely lost all memory of her.

Benjamin kept his eyes closed. “No need, we're almost there.”
