Chapter 557 The day she had been waiting for had finally arrived!

Ryan knew when it was time to wrap things up and nodded obediently, "Thank you, good sir!"

Benjamin then took out a business card from his wallet and handed it over.
"I've memorized the name of the racetrack. I'll transfer the investment funds in a bit, but if you ever need anything in the future, you can always call me."

"Sure..." Ryan accepted the business card, wishing he could stay with his dad a little longer, but Benjamin gave him a glance and then turned to leave, showing no intention of staying around.

Ryan reluctantly watched his father's retreating figure, clutching the business card tightly in his hand.

Benjamin walked straight to his car, where Daniel hastily came forward to open the door for him. Even after settling into the driver's seat, it still felt like it had all been a dream.

He didn't know when Benjamin ... became so affectionate toward children?

But with Benjamin resting with his eyes closed, he didn't dare to ask.

He immediately followed Benjamin's instructions and wired a sum of money to the racetrack.

The next day, Benjamin received a call from his father.

"Dad, you wanted to see me?"

"Mhm, I need you to handle something for me."

The authoritative voice of Harold Harrington came through the phone, "Over at the First Penitentiary, there's a guard who is the son of a friend of mine; he's got something for me, I need you to pick it up."

Benjamin glanced outside; it was still early.

"Alright, just give me the guard's name and contact details."

Harold grunted affirmatively, his voice deepening with an almost imperceptible significance, "How's the company acquisition going?"

Benjamin replied as if it were strictly business, "The preliminary preparations are almost complete. I've also met that Ms. Miller from the J&K Group and Valencia Inc., there shouldn't be any issues."

His voice was steady and impassive, especially when uttering the name "Ms. Miller."

Harold grunted in satisfaction.

'So, he truly hasn't remembered anything. Even Sarah couldn't trigger any of his memories. It seems they were wiped clean beyond recovery.'

HaroldH's voice softened with paternal warmth. "I trust you can do this, don't disappoint me."

"I understand, Father."

The conversation concluded without further discussion, and they hung up.

Shortly after, Benjamin's phone received the information sent by his father. He glanced at it briefly and then looked up to command, "Daniel, take a detour to the First Penitentiary."

Sarah hurried through her work at the company that morning before driving alone to the First State Penitentiary.

Today was the day Serene was to be executed.

Stepping out of her car, Sarah stood at the entrance, her eyes fixed on the imposing structure before her. Anger raged inside her like a fierce storm, threatening to break free at any moment. The woman inside, Serene, had committed untold evils, and at last, she was to receive her just punishment.

Sarah couldn’t recall how long she had awaited this day. Every time the thought crossed her mind, she wished fervently for Serene's expedited demise.

How could she miss today? She needed to witness Serene's march toward the end.

Only this would honor the memory of Antonio and her brother, not to mention her father!

Sarah clenched her fist, feeling the hate pulse within her palm, and forced herself to push it down as she entered the prison.

Her timing was impeccable. Just as she walked in, Serene was being carted out by two prison guards. A high-level paraplegic, Serene was now unable to walk on her own and relied on her wheelchair. But she twisted and turned her body, still harboring the futile hope of escaping her restraints.

With a frosty detachment, Sarah watched the spectacle.

Serene was plunged into darkness, a hood drawn over her head, cold shackles binding her wrists and ankles, evoking an innate terror from deep within her.

"Please, don't kill me... Don't!" she begged. Serene knew that once she was taken out, she wouldn't return.

"I'm begging you, don't kill me… I didn’t do it! I'm innocent!" Her shrill, piercing pleas, filled with all her strength, fell on deaf ears. "Even if I had done something… didn’t they deserve it? They had it coming!"

Such incoherent rambling was ignored as the deranged ranting of a desperate woman.

"Quiet down! Will you quit it?" The exasperated guard's voice was meant to silence her, but Serene, faced with her end, could not find peace.

"You’re going to kill me, aren’t you? No! I won’t go! I don't want to die!"

Her body rocked violently from side to side, the handcuffs leaving angry red marks on her wrists, seemingly numb to the pain.

The guard shouted with authority, instilling fear, "If only you had thought about this earlier! Today’s your execution day, and there's no saying 'no'."

Serene fell silent for a brief moment. Behind her hood, her eyes were bloodshot, and her mind seemed to teeter on the brink of madness, perhaps visualizing the moment of her execution.

Her struggle grew even more frantic.

"Please, please don't kill me! I really don't want to die! I'll do anything, just let me live!"

At that moment, Serene was like a rat in a sewer, desperately clinging to any hope for survival.

But the guards were unmoved; they had even called for reinforcements.

The terror of death gripped Serene to the core. Her voice quivering, she could not cry, and her body convulsed as if in seizure.

Before long, a dampness spread across the seat of her wheelchair.

Serene... she had an accident!

Sarah watched the scene unfold and gently touched her nose, silently acknowledging a grim satisfaction. After all, this woman deserved every bit of the anguish she received. She deserved to writhe in anticipation of death, to feel every bit of suffering before departing this world!

Sarah's gaze lingered on them as they walked away, her eyes reddening and swelling with unshed tears. She... had finally seen this day come!

'Serene is dying! Antonio... can you see this?'

As a party involved in an incident three months prior, Sarah had garnered certain privileges with the warden, which included being privy to Serene's tormented life since. Day in, day out, she was neither living nor dead.

It was somewhat unexpected to Sarah that even now, Serene clung to life so desperately.

The tormentor's reign was to end today!

The hatred within Sarah erupted like a volcano and then settled into the dust, leaving her feeling a sense of eerie calm mixed with powerlessness and bewilderment. With Serene gone and her brother on the mend, what about Antonio...

When would he return?

Tears streamed down Sarah's face as she looked lost, as if the most important thing in the world had slipped through her fingers, not knowing where to go or how to find her beloved...

Meanwhile, outside the main gates of the prison complex, Benjamin dialed the correctional officer's phone number Harold had sent.

There was no answer.

He stepped forward into the facility, intending to find someone to talk to. Before he could utter a question, however, he saw a woman coming towards him.

It was her.

'Sarah... how could she look like this in a prison?'

Benjamin's eyes narrowed slightly, and he adjusted his collar, ready to greet her with a carefully arranged expression. But to his surprise, she didn't even see him; she walked right past him.

She had simply ignored him?
